What are everyone’s thoughts about getting an extended warranty for my Kat? The one that came with the car expired in March and I wanted to get a new one. My concern are this: I want to start mod’ing my Kat (nothing extreme) but dressing up the motor, updated suspension, etc, but I know a lot of things will void the warranty when done to the Kat… Is it worth it? What would you people do..? Just as an FYI, I’m looking at a 7 year / 50,000 plan for about $700. (+ 300 because the warranty that I had is expired) |

Hate to say it but once the factory one has run out I dont think you can buy a extended unless a person just buys a used car and adds it at that time, I may be wrong for your sake I hope Iam. thats why I just traded the 99 cause when it broke and was out of warranty was cheaper for me in the long run to buy a new car

Not a whole lot will woid the warranty. If you put a supergharger or nitrous, yes, but except for those probably not much else. Even if you did those mods, other parts on the car will still, by law, be under warranty. I'm over simplyfing this but in a nutshell, but that's it. JRL |

Cool, I'll look into it. Just as an FYI, I have been talking with a sales rep from Causeway Chrysler that someone put me onto and you are able to buy an extended warranty after the one that came with the car ran out (they do charge an extra $300 as a penalty because it did run out). How they do it is they list it as a new car warranty and the years are deducted from the final year amount. (Example: I am looking at a 7 year warranty, but the car is a 99, so, it will run out in 2005. ** 1998 + 7 year warranty = 2005**) And it is possible to pick up a 7 year 50k mile. Cost is $680 with a $50 deductible. 7 year 60k mile for $745 |
