Need some help from New Jersey Members. I have to get the Prowler inspected but cannot find somewhere private to take it(No one wants to take any chances). Does anyone know of some place good in Central NJ? Has anyone in NJ taken theirs to the State Inspection Sites? If so did they take "better" care of it for you. Thanks ------------------ |

I took mine to the Kilmer station in Edison they were friendly and even stopped the other lanes so I could cross over to the first lane where they felt they had better ground clearance. Good news is they admired and seemed to take extra care with the Kat bad news is the supervisor came out and had a problem with my window etchings. result ..FAIL. I went for reinspection at a sleazy private station and got my sticker. If you are stock you should have no problem at the Kilmer station. Hope that helps. George |

I know somebody who will do a private inspection for you if you want, but I will have to email you the info when I get home. He is located in Princeton. I took the Kat to a State run facility twice. It is located on RT 130 in South Brunswick... I found that they run them through pretty quick. I bought my Kat out of State so I had to get her inspected right away in 2000. I went on a Saturday & lucked out. Two HotRod enthusiasts took care of my baby & they even let me walk & watch right beside her instead of pushing me off into the waiting area. Did not even have the front plate on. They even took extra care & asked me where I wanted the sticker located. (position angle everything). The last time I went I went during the week & got stuck with a couple of kids... (Listen to me... I am starting to sound like my Dad...) They took pretty good care of the Kat, had to wait in waiting area & the sticker is all crooked, mismatched & mishandled. He was ready to slap it in without cleaning all of the goo from the last one... I stopped him just in time, so I was at least able to clean it before he mashed it on anyway... I am going back to see if I could get it re-attached the way I want it... The damn sticker is so big it blocks my view... I wish they would make those things out of clear plastic. Call NJ Inspection # is 888-656-6867 for hours of operation at any location. Each one is different. I just called the one on Rt 130 & their hours are: M-F 6:30 - 4:30 (extended hours on Tues until 7:30) & Sat 6:30 - 2:30. If you do have window etchings, roll down your windows!!! They really gave NJSilver a hard time. Also bring along your front plate if it is not attached. Let me know if you have any questions. WildBill |

hi matt, try coming down to the state inspection station here in manahawkin, one of the inspectors owns a prowler, i know of two kat owners who had some questionable tinting etc, and they went through with flying colors. never questioned them on how the kats were treated, but i'm sure they would have said something, had they been treated harshly. good luck----sam the jeep man |
