Ok, Im driving on the highway here locally. A semi kicks up a big chunk of rubber from the road. I try to dodge it, but it hits the front of the Kat. I knew it would leave a mark, and it did. A big black rubber mark. I was lucky that it all came off without any scratches, but I noticed that the clips at the back of the front nose released the front nose. So both those ends of the nose are flapping. I clipped them back, but they wont align right. Not to mention now they wont stay clipped either. Every time I drive it one side or the other comes unclipped. Does anyone have cure for this. I would rather not go to the dealer with it. But I guess I might have to. Thanks for any help. ------------------ 94' Mustang Cobra(Power Trip) 00' Trans Am WS6 Ram Air(Her car) 02' Excursion 4x2 Diesel(The Beast!) Did you make sure that the clips themselves aren't bent? |

CJ The impact was not that bad that it should have bent anything. It was a small piece of rubber. It almost looks like they got moved around, but I cant seem to bend or move them back. They are very strong metal. It's kinda strange. May be they werent aligned before and I didnt notice it, but now they wont stay clipped. I havent tried to get aggressive with the clip with a plyers yet as I wanted to ask here 1st. Thanks! ------------------ 94' Mustang Cobra(Power Trip) 00' Trans Am WS6 Ram Air(Her car) 02' Excursion 4x2 Diesel(The Beast!) |

Frank............dont' be so sure about that. I hit a tire piece on the way to Louisville.......and it bent my clips to the point we actually had to drill one out to replace it. |

Rx, When a similar incident happened to me, I researched my insurance policy. In my case, the policy language was that my car was struck by a "missile". The significance of this is that it was covered under Comprehensive rather than Collision which, in my case, meant zero deductible, rental car and no risk of a rate increase. Just thought this might help. -GRROWL |

Frank. the bottom plate that the nose attaches to is adjustable. Maybe you can loosen the 2 bolts to slide the nose and realign the side pieces. ------------------ |

Al Thanks I'll check out those bolts to realign it. I got it to stay clipped now, but the alignment isnt perfect. It's just one of those things.... Thanks again! BT 161 ------------------ 94' Mustang Cobra(Power Trip) 00' Trans Am WS6 Ram Air(Her car) 02' Excursion 4x2 Diesel(The Beast!) |

RX...I hear ya. I try never to follow in a car's blind spot, and I stay clear of trucks. I guess you had no choice in your situation....You just had a batch of bad luck. Sorry to hear such a lousy thing happened to your cat! |

BT I was coming up on this truck and trailor, and was pulling out to pass when the tire cap started blowing off I had no chance as I had other vehicles right behind me so hard breaking to avoid it was out of the question, I'm just glad it never came over the hood and onto me as I had the top down PK |

quote: I wasn't following a truck at all. Apparantly, it was in the road and I could not see it due to the cars in front of me. The one directly in front of me hit it and it came flying out from underneath the back of his car right at me. I tried to avoid it and swerved enough in the traffic to not hit it dead on, but it still got me! Couple of weeks ago, I was driving on the freeway with the cat. All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a Cadillac lose it's wheel cover. It came rolling across the highway at very high speed. I was in the left lane, he was in the right lane of a 4 lane highway. It was coming right at the car. Had I maintained my speed, it would have hit me, but fortunately, there was no one close behind me, so I slowed down enough to let it pass me. However, this road has one of those cement barriers down the center to divide the highway. I knew the minute it hit the wall it would come back at me, so after slowing down enough to let it pass, I floored it to get out of the way. I watched in my rear view mirror as it hit the wall, went straight up and came down right in the center of that lane! Close call!!! |
