As some of you may know, I'm lucky enough (for now) to get a chance to go on the cruise in Feb. but....a small (er..huge) problem. My weight. Without going into too much details, I need to lose 30 lbs.

So I decided to make it interesting(...maybe only for myself), a POA fund challenge.

I plan on putting UP TO $300 TOWARDS THE POA Fund...if I lose.

For those that post to this thread with a verifiable contribution(marked: Take MeanGene's Money) to the POA Fund (any amount up to that amount) that I can't lose the weight, then the challenge is on!!!!!

My plan:

From Sep. 1st 2002 till Saturday, February 22, 2003 lose - 30 lbs.

Who:
Bill Stephens (NiteMan) will offically do the weight in by Sep. 1st 2002 or shortly there after.

Jay Harris (YellarCat)will offically do the weight in on February 22, 2003 or very..very shortly there after (before any eating goes on).

If I don't lose the weight, even by a pound, then I will match dollar for dollar UP TO $300 TOWARDS THE POA Fund.

If I do...the POA wins, and I lose the weight, and those that see me after, won't confuse me with the Pillsbury dough boy.

Oh...BTW anyone can join me in this challenge, any other takers?

Gene,

I can't believe I would dare respond to any post discussing weight issues; but, Gene, you bring out the worst in me.

I think you should guarantee us that you will NOT gain any more than 10% (or 3 pounds) back during the cruise (verifiable by an after cruise weigh-in with one of your official scale watchers) or you should have to cough up another $100.

What do you say...are you sporting enough?

OK Gene - I'll take your challenge. You'll have to trust Reba in my weigh in on Sept 1st. I'll pay POA $5.00 per pound for every pound you lose more than me up to $300.00 if you do the same.

Now let's see if anyone else wants to bet $$$ per pound on you or me on who loses the most weight with proceeds going to POA. Post below who you think will lose the most weight and how much per pound that person loses you will donate to POA.

One last thing Gene - betwen the two of us, the loser has to buy ALL alcohol for the other in Gatlinburg next year!!

Gotta go get another beer and handful of chips!!

Gene,
I would have thought that the Saturday night antic show that you put on for the entire lobby, would have at least dropped 10 pounds for you, or gathered a hefty contribution for POA....

I can think of one person who should join you in this........
Katatak-I did not mention your name....so if you are the guilty one, skip that second ice cream at the car shows!!! Heck, you don't even need the first one.

KimKat,
No deal on the three(3)pounds...some of my "floaters" weigh that. But...$100 bucks (between you and me) says I'll be ten lbs.(or less) of the "offical" weigh-in - AFTER the cruise! Game?

Marty,
I need only 30 lbs..you on the other hand...the POA wouldn't need donations for a few years

So...LardButt of Louisville, I'll take you up on the $5 per pound, up to 30 lbs. max. for both of us, and yes..the drinks too...but ALL the events we both attend! - Deal?

This trust thing with Reba-Cat? I'll have to have slightly more credible witnesses, Gary and/or Kelly ?

Do I look stupid to you? You're only going to lose 30 pounds between now and the cruise and if you gain ONLY 10 pounds in a WEEK--one third of the weight you lost--I owe you $100?? I think not.

Ok..Ok

KimKat....$100 bucks (between you and me -going to the POA) says I'll be 5 lbs.(or less) of the "offical" weigh-in - AFTER the cruise! Game? Yes..I avoided the "stupid" thing, I'm showing a great deal of restraint.

Yes, you are a man of amazing restraint. But no deal...sporting of you you bring it down from 10 to 5, though.

Todd,

We can always count on you for support. Does this mean you are wagering for me (BigButt from BurTONSville) or Marty (LardButt from Louisville)?

Hey Gene - you've got less than two weeks to eat & drink, then when you start your diet, you'll have to change your screen name to ReallyMeanGene !!

OK Gene - I tipped the scales this morning at 225. That's still 10 lbs off my all time high but 25 more than 14 months ago.

I really enjoyed my last beers for a while while at a friends lake cabin over the holiday weekend. Good luck!

I am going for 45 pounds loss.
