Sunday was a bad day for our Prowler... Hubby and I were going to a car show at Hooter's. We were taking the Prowler and my 2002 SS convertible. Weather was supposed to be good all day. Hubby left the house around 8:30 to pick-up the Prowler from our shop. He comes home with bad news.... He was putting the top down on the car and it seemed to stick and not want to go down. So he put it back up to try again. When he went to put it up the track tore 2 small holes in the driver side top. Hubby's upset, but still wants to take the Prowler to the show anyway. When we get ready to leave it begins to sprinkle. We wait for it to stop and call where the show is to see if it is raining. Weather was perfect at the show. So we try to leave again. We figure we can get going before it rains again. Hubby pulls out of the garage first and I start to back out. All of a sudden the sky lets loose....... I had already closed the garage door. I'm still in the driveway and I cannot get the door to open. Finally I get the door open and I pull in and hubby and Prowler are soaked. I bet there was 2" of water in the passenger seats. We grab some towels and dry everything off. Then the rain stops.... We went to the show in our Tahoe and it never rained at the show, but was still raining at our house when we got home.

Hubby is now worried about taking car in to have new top installed. Our car is a 2001 Orange Prowler with only 1799 miles on it. sorry this was so long.....

So how was the show? I really wanted to bring my Prowler over but we are getting our house ready to sell and didn't have the time (moving to Pearland actually). It poured on our house just a few miles from Hooters so I was happy I decided not to go. Funny thing is that I check the Hooters web site quite regularly and this show was never posted. We just happened to stop for lunch there on Saturday and heard about it. I will get my Prowler in one sooner or later.

Terri, what could have caused the tear in the top? Sorry to hear about that.

not sure what exactly tore the top. Hubby just thinks it tore on the hinge assembly. The two holes are the size of your pinky finger.

HouTexan... where in Pearland are you moving??? wow.. now there will be 2 orange Prowlers in Pearland. The show was ok lots of cars we've seen before. There was a red Prowler at the show, but we never saw the owner to talk to them. They had a Harley decal on the trunk. Maybe we will run into each other sometime....

I had a small nick in my top that happened after I bought it. I showed them and guessed it was from dropping the top and it snagged on something. Anyway the dealership replaced the entire top under warranty. Took about 3-4 days to get the car back but I have a brand new top now with no nicks. 2001 should still be covered with no problems. I would tell the dealership what happened and get it replaced.

Same here. Had my top replaced for free by DC. Had a little hole from rubbing on sharp metal inside the trunk after 1,300 miles! I asked if I could keep the old top since they were going to trash it? They gave it to me. I'll save it & have it patched someday. Never know when you might need a spare!!

What luck one of our local guys had his car "washed" inside by an older female across the street from him, right after a detailing job and with his top down no less.

Teri,

We are moving into Lakes at Country Place. 288 & McHard. Hopefully house will be completed before Christmas. I have only been to one show at Hooters (didn't have Prowler with me due to mechanical difficulties), but talked to the guy running the show and he said he didn't think he ever had a Prowler in one of his shows. Could have been 3 this last weekend if things would have worked out. Oh well, hopefully next time.

Terri - sorry to hear about your troubles. Even though it is a hassle - at least the warranty should cover it.

Good luck with it.

Marty

UPDATE:

Hubby took the car in yesterday (dealer where we purchased the car. They told him they are not sure about it being under warranty. He'd have to show the top to the Chrysler rep. The rep will be there either Wednesday or Thursday. I'm gonna be really mad if they say it's not a warranty issue!!!
