How is this best done? I want to try the hot glue reinforcement method, but don't want to break my 3 remaining good caps. Thanks. Mike |

Jim. What I've done is take one of those wooden sticks for stirring paint & trim it with an exacto knife to the size of popsicle stick... Works for me... ------------------ |

I didn't do anything to the one that broke Ray... it came off, fell apart, while I was drying my car. I agreed to stay away from your conversations here, can't you do me the same honor? Your "Just leave'em alone" post is no help at all and does not answer my question in the least. Just another one of your antagonistic, useless posts. Any one else have something relevant to contribute? Mike This message has been edited by jmcant1 on 07-08-2002 at 07:07 PM |

Hey Mike ... it was NOT meant as an antagonistic post, simply sound advise! Have washed the Kat a hundred times and NEVER has one "fallen off" while drying it ... I assumed you were being overly anal retentive and removing them to clean behind ... that was why the 'just leave em alone" suggestion was made ... and they would be fine ... but in YOUR case, I guess not ... sorry YOU took my cooment the wrong way ... |

Assumptions on both sides. I assumed you read my other thread about the center cap disentegrating in my hand. Apology accepted and offered. Mike |

Mike - go ahead and pop them off and hot glue,,,they'll be tougher than nails then. What the hell, if the three left break, your warranty will cover them anyway. So you will get four new caps to hot glue first,,,,,,,,,before putting them back on the cat. Make sense? Go 4 it! ------------------

Thanks Larry. I got a personal email tip on what tool to use and thought I'd pass it on here. The tip is to disassemble an old fashioned wooden clothes pin and use one of the single wooden pieces to pop the caps off. I happen to have plenty in stock if anyone needs one of these specialty tools. Thanks all. Mike |

Mike, bring a supply Friday if you are coming to the cruise-in. Sell them for $ 1 each. |

Mike, I'm not overly sold on the hot glue method, if you make the tabs too stiff they can break when installing them. I think the tabs tend to break as many times when installing them as they do when you try to remove them. |
