This accident occurred in Brick, NJ. Didn't know if any of our members knew this man and might want to know.

"State Police have identified the 48 year old man who was killed when his car crashed into a tree on the Garden State Parkway on Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence Schall who lives in Rahway, Union County, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 1999 Plymouth Prowler slammed into a tree along the northbound side of the parkway said Sgt. Gerald Lewis.

Schall's car was in the right center lane when, for reasons that are still not known, he lost control of the vehicle and it hit a Saturn car, Lewis said. Schall's car then veered towards the right and off the highway before hitting the tree. Schall, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected, Lewis said"

Certainly not the kind of news you wanted to hear associated with the Prowler. Wear your seat belts everyone!

Kim - thanks for that info. There have been other deaths in a Prowler,,,most by ejection from car with the top down. All my life I refused to wear a seatbelt,,,,,until owning a Corvette and now the Prowler. Speed and no top over my head has wakened me up and I now wear it all the time. I'm not sure if it will save my life, but I'm not willing to bet against it anymore.

What sad news.........

Whether you drive a convertible or not, seat belts do save lives more than not. My son was in a terrible accident in England with his Neon. A flatbed truck hit him broadside, spun him around, hit him again in the rear of the car and with the truck shoved him head on into a tree. He was very lucky. He had a lot of cuts and bruises (there was no glass left in the car), and he was sore for a while, but miraculously, he had no severe injuries. He contributes his survival to the seatbelts he always wore and the air bags in his car. The car was totaled, but thank God he wasn't!

Another reason to keep in mind that these cars were not built for speed. They have no hardtop or roll cages and there is more risk involved.

Another Kat owner forwarded me the article. Sorry to see it happen to anyone in any car... I checked my contact list & could not find his name listed... Didn't know him, but will keep you posted...
