On the way home it was 90 plus deg out and I had the a/c on, after about an half hour I got stuck in traffic. all of a sudden a big puff of white smoke came from under the cat looked at the gauges and bingo the temp gauge was barried.turned off the a/c and turned on the heat( that sucked) but the temp did no move. got home 5 min later and the cooling fan was not on rad was EMPTY and i had a blown trans fan maxi fuse. i assume since the rad was dry that is why the cooling fan was not on. but why did the trans fan fuse blow> can the cat not take the heat. when should the trans fan kick on so i can keep an eye on it.And i hate to take it to the dealer i know how thoes people are that work on cars.SCARRY

fixumm - there have been several reports of overheating and I guess that is possible with any kind of car. In Colorado on the Sunday "adult" driving cruise we were in 97 to 104 degree heat and pushed the cars hard. The only person with a heat problem out of ten cars was Bob Goetz. He had just installed a grill just prior to the trip that blocked part of the air getting to the radiator.

What happened with yours? Did you have a radiator hose come loose and lose the water?

Hope you get it repaired soon.

Since you probably did the wiring for the trailer and misc other work under the rear of your cat,,,,,,,you probably pinched or crimped something that touched metal and grounded out. Let your shop personnel do the work on your cat,,,,,,you stay in the office, online. Then it will be done the right way. JMO

Fixumm, I've been in 90 deg weather too and never had an overheat problem. Maybe a slow leak somewhere that you didn't notice. When I got mine back from the first blower install, there was a tendency to weep from the top rad hose.
Same hose and clamp from the factory, but the clamp wasn't in the dents made from the original install. I moved it and all was OK after. Maybe time to trust the dealer in case there was damage from the overheat. Maybe the trans fan and engine fan are on the same circuit. Hope you get it Fixumm up soon

Fixumm:

Not uncommon ... or at least, has happened to me too ... fortunately it was at dealership when I realized the rad. fan relay was no good, overheated on around the block test drive, rad fluid went out the overflow tank -- that's where your's went too. Replaced relay and no problem since. Don't know why the trans issue happened though ... maybe the wiring like someone above posted?? Hope that helps with the front end explanation at least.
