I want a simple yet effective alarm that will detect people who try to stick there hands in the car. College kid here so try and keep cost in mind too please.

Just list any that come to mind and average price please.

How about a mean pitbull with sharp teeth??

Seriously, I would be interested in such a device, too. I would like one that works both outside and inside with the option of being able to turn off the outside protection.

For at home security, I find it hard to beat the stuff from X-10.com. Works great and is reasonably priced. The image is from the 120 degree wide angle camera on a remote controlled pan/tilt.

I would look into the Viper alarm system. Only thing I have against it is that the first two warnings are a voice saying "Please step away from the vehicle!!" This might "egg-on" certain people. On the up side you get a beeper and if your like 3/4 of a mile away from the car at the time it will beep you.

I also agree that the Viper alarm system is the best. With the voice activation and duel perimemter along with the pager cost installed is about $850.00. Not bad in comparison to other things that we put on our Kats just for looks. I can putchase here in Indiana at Circuit City.

I have an Alpine system. It cost a couple of hundred dollars. I did not get the outside perimeter or the pager options. I did not want the outside perimeter because I didn't want it going off as I would walk around it in the garage. I will go off if I hit the mud guard though. It is great that I can leave the top down and not have to worry.

Al - you can get the pager service with it but it is more expensive. I will do a search later and see if I can find the post detailing the alarm.
