Hey Guys, This weekend I was on the Mass-pike (I-90) east bound near Sturbridge exits (I-84) in the left hand lane and I had a bright green Ford Mustang GT with black tinted windows riding my tail for a mile or 2. I was doing between 70-75. Thinking it was a typical punk in a Mustang I speed up to get over in the middle lane so I could let the punk go by. As soon as I pull over in the middle lane the blue light goes on and it was a Mass Trooper. He pulls me over asks for a Lic. + Reg. He takes it and comes back with ticket. I proceeded to ask "Don't you have to tell me why you pulled me over, sir?" Trooper states "NO". He walks away. I say "Excuse me sir" so I could ask him another question and he continues to walk away. NICE officer....he walks away when I was talking to him in a polite manner. What a professional. I guess that is why their is a saying "MASS-holes"! Ticket states 81.9 mph in a 65 mph ZONE. Dame, right I am going to fight it!!! Advise? PS - First Ticket with the Prowler in the 2+ yrs I have had the Cat. ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 05-13-2002 at 08:14 AM |

Wait let me get this straight? The mustange was an undercover cop? If it was...you should explain to the judge that he was riding your *** while on the highway and you were just trying to get out of the way... Most mass cops don't even show up to the court when the have to fight tickets. Meaning you will by default. ------------------ |

Cops are driving all kinds of cars now. FL cops have been driving cars they seize for over 15 years. When I lived down there I saw a cop in a brand new camaro. Good luck and I hope you get out of it. Voodoo |

Cops in GA and SC are driving Camaro Z28's. All white with flatop (no light bar). Your situation sounds like entrapment to me. ------------------ |

Todd - maybe you get a lic plate "NODIMWIT" If they gave tickets to eberyone here that does not use turn signals, the courts would have to be in session 24/7/365 Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

In Mass. the cop that gave you the ticket doesn't have to show up in court. They have one cop that handles all the tickets in court. You'll go in front of a magistrate instead of a judge. Good luck. |

Greg "BlackAMX",
The who thing is BS because when you are heading towars Boston on the Mass-pike and you not doing 80-85mph then you will not be keeping up with traffic. He got me doing 81.9 in a 65. This message has been edited by spoons on 05-13-2002 at 04:25 PM |

reminds me of the ticket I got 3 weeks ago, in the same Kat no less! I had to speed up to 80 right where 3 lanes converge to avoid being squashed between 3 cars and a big rig... slowed down right away to traffic speed of 75, people passing me... and I'm the one who got nabbed for doing 80... going to fight that one I think. ------------------ |

Todd, Sounds like you are not having good luck... maybe we both need to start cruising 5 under the post speed limit just to be on the safe side? Naaaaaa no fun I have been pulled over a few time before with the Prowler and always got off.... I guess I ran out of "get out of jail free" cards. ------------------ |

Going up to Hershey one year, traveling through VA and friend was driving my car. We got pulled over by an older model Chevy Caprice, faded maroon with the red lights hidden behind the grille. The cop was wearing a bowling jacket over his uniform and his hat was on the seat. That ticket cost him $65.00. They are not interested in traffic safety or control they are just out for the revenue. I never speed in VA unless I am running among a large pack of cars. |

Will the points transfer from Mass to a Florida Drivers Lic? I know Neighboring States will swap points (like NY with NJ) But I am not sure about states that are far away or south of the Mason-Dixon Line? |

A ticket in ANY state counts in Cali now, has for around 5 years (been there n found out), but only Cali tickets can you do traffic school on... I just have cop radar... nothing I can do about it ------------------ |

When its all said and done, the 'Massistrate' will take your dough... Don't let 'em waste your day too, send in the $$$. ...and then he pulled me over, walks up to my car and taps on the window with his nightstick. AS I roll down the window, WHACK, he smacks me in the head with the nightstick. I apologized and explained that I was from out of state and wasn't aware of their protocol. After handing me my license and my ticket and bidding us a safe journey, the trooper walked over to the passenger side and taps on the window. My buddy rolls down the window and WHACK, the trooper smacks him on the head with the nightstick. "What'd you do that for?", my buddy ask totally pissed and holding his forehead. "Just making sure your wish comes true," replied the trooper. "Making sure WHAT wish comes true?" "Because I know," says the trooper, "that two miles down the road you're gonna turn to your buddy here and say, 'I wish that "Mass-hole" would've tried that **** with me!" ------------------ |

Here's the deal... You have to look at it from the judge's perspective... People take speeding tickets personally. It's not meant to be personal, it's just the way of the system. If you got caught once in two years, then there were probably plenty of times that you didn't get caught that you were speeding. I get about 1 ticket every 5 years. I rarely speed, but sometimes I go over without realizing it. I probably get 1 speeding ticket for every few hundres times that I actually speed. The judge generally has two options. He can believe the driver or he can believe the officer. People get emotional about speeding tickets all the time and the judge has heard every argument you can think of and then some. The judge knows that the driver has a motive to exaggerate in court. The only way you have a chance is to submit to the court history about that particular officer being dishonest - and it is highly unlikely you will come by such evidence. The best thing to do is not waste your time with it. Pay the ticket. A month from now, you will forget the whole thing. There are more important things to do - bigger fish to fry - friends and family to enjoy. Your time that you waste worrying or dealing with it is more valuable than the cost of the ticket. later, ------------------ |

It's good to have three of the police depts. as your accounts. I just wave as I go by at 80. Only problem I ever encountered was my dauguter had a license plate I got her for her transam that said SPLDBRT. She made my take it off and put regular plate. She said every cop that came up behind her pulled her over, no tickets, just hassel. Never been stopped sence. ------------------ This message has been edited by onaprwl on 05-17-2002 at 04:29 PM |

funny about the plate... girls seldom get tickets in relation to men.. I cannot count the times Ophie has waves at police doing 80! Never ever a ticker either! I'd not care about paying their money... or even the increase in insurance so much... it is the points and the loss of license and suspended driver license tickets that result in county jail time because I've got Harley's on my trailer so therefor they MUST be a good cop and ticket ME that pisses me off... the DMV never considers that some people drive 200,000 miles a year but your still restricked to the "normal" 2 points a year because everyone only drives 12K miles a year... Now THAT gets me mad... and nothing I can do about it, but either drive or starve. ------------------ |

Todd, Try what I have done in the past before I had them for accounts. Go to D.A.s office and explain you don't mind paying the ticket amount or any court fees if they will just reduce it to a non moving violation for insurance reasons. MONEY TALKS. I have never had any problem with that. ------------------ This message has been edited by onaprwl on 05-14-2002 at 10:23 PM |

Good touch, JP. Traffic court hears so many excuses, exaggerations, and just down right lies that a bit of truth may make a refreshing moment for the Judge or referee. It is certainly worth a try. ------------------ |
