The old man went out.... Larry "Miles" Lord set up a day at the Chrysler Tech Center yesterday and I attended with Dew Drop. What an experience! We met on a misty, gray day at the Ontario Krispie Kream doughnut place. It was good to see all of you young-ins and all of the high speed race machines lined up in the parking lot. I am sure that pictures were taken so, hopefully, we'll see a posting soon. Anyway, I "squashed" (art of eating and then digesting) my first "Krispie Kream" beauty and, in the process, spilled a diet Coke down the front of my "leased" shirt. What a mess, looked like Jed Clampet the rest of the day! We then went over to the Tech Center in a caravan on what seemed like a dirt road and arrived about 9:07. We met Bob Craighead, and started the session. Bob told us about the tire sensors, run flats and the associated computer. He showed us the components and a film on how to change a tire. I applied at Good Year today, and was given a job of busting tires at $6.50 per hour! We then progressed into a complete tour of a 2001 Prowler and got to see how a flat works and then the underside of the car. We then undressed the car and took off the dash panel, front grill, front fascia, headlights and side panels. What an education. Bob was insightful, witty, and patient. He answered all of our questions and concluded the session with a rumor section where he told us all of the things that CJ already knows, but can't tell us. A 160 MPH Viper Truck! Just imagine how many "fresh things" I could fit in there on a Home Depot run. We concluded the session around 12:30 and then we went to Tom's Farm for another "squash." Wow, Prowler owners sure know how to eat! It was a great day, a long drive and a bit difficult on the "old man." I had Dew Drop drive me in her racing machine so I was able to keep the miles off of the Prowler and my frame. I was disappointed that "Potato Latke" and his bride as well as the rocket man, Gary, did not attend, but all in all a good day. Met some new people that just bought Prowlers and learned a lot about my car. A special thanks to Larry for his incredible efforts to make a great outing possible. He is a true enthusiast and number one rep for the west coast owners. Gotta run as that doughnut is starting to react and I am feeling some pressure. At my age, a release of serious pressure could be devastating. Scot ------------------ |

Todd, I was particularly sorry that you were not able to attend yesterday as I have heard so much about you. With three Prowlers, you must be headed the same direction as me with the little fillies. A couple of studs like us would have had a lot to discuss. Gotta run now as I picked up some Hungry Jack Vittles at Tom's Farm yesterday and it is now time to squash them down with some shine that I keep for medicinal purposes. Scot ------------------ |

Scot, Purplecat and I are bummed to have missed this. We did plan to go. Purplecat spent all week slathering her Kat with Zaino special for this event. We had a little league outing with the youngin' and it ended a little later than we had hoped. We planned to head north and catch up with y'all afterward but we did not finish up there 'till about 10:00. After that it started to drizzle so we decided to stay home. Oh Well. Hope somebody posts some pics. |

Thanks for your comments Scott. I'm not sure why she puts up with you but I'm glad Dew Drop took the time to join us and bring you along. Nice color on that Corvette! No doubt about it! This was the best Tech Session I've ever attended. Bob Craighead is a walking encylopedia of Prowler information and had parts of Prowlers all laid out neatly on benches for us to inspect. Shop manuals were on every desk and the coffee was fresh, Not only did he allow us into the training center and let us tear apart his Prowler, but he did it on his own time and on a Saturday to boot. I know that many people learned a lot about their Prowlers at this event. Top to bottom and inside out, we saw it all yesterday. I'm sure that many were surprised by just how simple it is to take a Prowler apart for repairs or make changes to the body panels. Mike Sable (muscles), David Sabel (no muscles), Rick Brock, Bihn, Simon, Jim Stallings, Jim Olson, Lot's of mudflaps sold yesterday at Ontario Chrysler Jeep and I think a couple of Mopar Performance exhaust systems too. Everyone that didn't attend this event missed a great opportunity. We'll do it again just for you. Oh! I almost forgot,,,we owe Bob Craighead another big thanks for showing us just how easy it is to remove and replace the wheel center caps without damaging them. ------------------ |

I am glad that I was able to enlighten Bob Craighead on the correct procedure for removing the center cap without breaking it. That was the funniest thing when he said "I have never had a problem removing them, see...." LOL ------------------ |

AlleyCat, I hate to admit this but I not only forgot to ask your question, but I can't even remember what it was. Ask me again and I'll get the answer for you. I promise! |

AlleyCat, Regarding the hubcap question, lets just say that Bob has been enlightened, first hand, on the hubcap problem. This was one of those rare "you had to be there to believe it" times. Larry is correct, this was an awesome tech session. Bob knows the car inside and out, and is an excellent teacher. Took the time to answer everyones questions, and went out of his way to make us comfortable with the workings of the car. As always, a big thanks to Larry for putting this together, even though he had other plans for the day. Only thing I haven't figured out yet, who was the guy in the blue truck Larry???? ------------------ |
