WE all know what the Prowler will do the in a 1/4 mile and how much faster the cat is with gears, NOS, supercharge and etc. But, who is interested in race the Prowler on a real road course track to see how it does against other cars. Road courses Like Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Sebring and others. No longer is it about HP and torque; it's about the combination of driving ablity and how well the car handles. I believe the Prowler would do extremely well on a road course track seeing that the wheels are way out at the corners, light weight and it is well balanced car with the engine in front and tranny in the rear. I would be interested in doing time trials against BMW's, Porsches, Vettes, Stangs, Camaros and other cars to see just how well our cats handles and prove that this car is a true "sports car". Road racing the Prowler is not such a good idea. First, the frame flexes. Second the(minivan) brakes are poor for road racing.(and for anything else for that matter). Third, the transmission really doesn't work too well and for road racing would be a disaster. Forth, the tires and tire size are all wrong for raod racing.Fifth, weight distribution is poor. This list goes on and on but if you decide to try it I for one would love to hear the results. Don't get me wrong I love my kat, but it is what it is, a great and kool kruiser, somtime drag racer, but NOT a road racer. JRL |

I wonder who drove the Prowler pace care at the Coronado North Island, Chrysler-Jeep Classic Speed Festival couple years ago in San Diego? http://www.classics.com/spdfs.html http://www.lasaac.org/coron00.htm I think POA member Gary Myers attended As I recall is was a red 99 with a pace car light bar on the back lid. I would like to hear that driver’s comments regarding handling, because it looked like he was really moving and the Cat handled the corners well. There was a large static display of other Cats at this event too and I am sure some of the owners are now POA members. - Kcat |

Spoons, now your talking my "old days" when I used to race for Yamaha and we used Lime Rock for our practicing... I'd love to get the Kat on there.. I have run the Kat in the Autocross here and found it very good for flatening out the turns and had no problem with the brakes overheating or fading. It was a fairly smooth course so I didn't feel the need for any braces in the front end but one thing the Kat does is "plow" into the turns if you aren't ready or it. If yur late into a tunr you feel like you want to pick the frontend up and move it over to the left or right.. The car runs very flat through the turns. Even the Vipers that were out there and the Corvettes all had an amount of body roll but they all commented how surprised they were with the lack of lean in the Kat. With the Prowler Pro gears you just leave it in second and you have all the acceleration you could want.. nuff said.. ------------------ |

Prowlers don't handle well on road course conditions. They tend to push in the corners. The brakes tend to fad quickly when they heat up. Good Luck ------------------ |

Has any one replaced the brake system on there cat. I replaced the pads with ceramic ones, but the braking is still not that great. with the trailer fully loaded it is almost scarey how poor the brakes are. ------------------ |
