I was comparing the Monroney label from my 99 Prowler to the one for the 2002 Candy Red.

New feature under the Standard Equipment is:

Brake/Park Interlock
Chrome wheels are now listed as Standard rather than optional.
The paint is no longer listed under Optional Equipment with a charge.
Bracket - Front License Plate that was listed under Optional Equipment as a NO CHARGE is no longer listed at all.

It also lists a Smog Index and the City MPG is now listed as 18 instead of 17. Estimated Annual Fuel Cost is listed as $1125 instead of $1026.

I guess they think we will drive it more. 18 is better milage than 17, the cost of gas is probably less, so the only thing that could make the cost higher is that We're gonna drive 'em a lot more!!

I thought that perhaps I could assist CJ on the Monroni answer as I believe that she is too busy thinking about driving her new red machine to answer your question right now.

The name is from an old-line product offering that originally came out of San Francisco. You may have been familiar with a product called "Rice-a-Roni" from some years back.

Apparently, Rice was sitting around one day, enjoying gripping cocktail conversation with his partner Roni, and was examining a Noodle Roni. Anyway, he started thinking about the concept of combining a piece of rice with macaroni to form a Monroni. (Mon being French for my)

Sure enough, the idea came about and he just added sauce (hydraulic fluid) and the shock absorber was born. Now that the car companies had a new shock absorber they were all talking about the latest pricing sheets and it was a natural to call the the window sticker a Monroni meaning window sticker shock. Sounds strange but that’s the way it was named.

Gotta run as my Harley Davidson tattoo kit just arrived and I am in the process of transferring a four color beauty to my upper torso.

Actually, it's "Monroney" label...named after the Senator who drafted the legislation back in the early '50's I believe. This was some of the earliest "Consumer Protection" legislation which was enacted to help level the playing field between the new vehicle dealers and the consumer.

CJ - To ERROR is human,,,,,,,,,to FORGIVE, is against POA policy.

To further add to this topic, the labels were first put on regular cars first. Light truck lines did not have to have price labels until the 70's, I believe. When I sold Fords way back when, it was fair game to price pickup trucks at any retail price you wanted,,,,,boy it sure always looked like you got lots of $$$ for your trade-in. NOT

I would have thought it was named after the famous dragster lady, Shirley Munroney. Or the Song, "Shirley, Shirley, Mo whirly, Fe, Fi Mo worly, SHIRLEY! The name game.

Actually, it's Shirley "Muldowney",...also known as "Cha-Cha". Highly recommend the movie based on her life...Heart like a wheel starring Bonnie Bedelia and Beau Bridges as Connie Kalitta. She started her drag racing career on the streets and backroads in and around her hometown of Schenectady, NY.

Hey Al, Ed's a GOOD GUY! He obviously has excellent taste...he drives a BRIGHT RED Prowler! Oh...did I mention that my Prowler is also the same color. Well, if I couldn't have gotten a red one, I would have liked a yellow one I'm sure. Whatever color, they are the coolest car on the road! You guys are alright...keep up the great posts! Oh...and as far as all the corrections are concerned...all in the quest for accuracy for the benefit of the Prowler community. After all, we are the brightest of all the enthusiast groups, are we not?

Thanks,

I am almost positive the Karmen (Karman?) Ghia was named in his honor since that was a Greek Automobile.

CJ mine says 20 in the city and 30 highway and 1584.00 estimated annual fuel cost. The only optional equipment is the customer prefered package 21A no charge?? and wheels is there to at no charge, paint is up in the top left right under the base price of 55,000 there is no mention of a charge there just the prowler red clearcoat. It's quite interesting to see the little differences from our country to yours.

No Ed this is window sticker off my 99 the only colour (RED) I'm quoting these off.

I've also asked the dealer I deal with on my warranty issues if you would honour the family and friends he's heard of it but I don't think he will, the greed factor is a big part of dealers out here. The gold I mentioned a few mnths ago is still sitting on the dealer's showroom floor.

Mine was 55,000.00 no charge for the paint or the wheels plus 1400.00 delivery, and another 100.00 AC excise tax, guess AC has a way to scam us Canucks out of 100.00 there to my god he's got those hands in everyone pocket. lol

Keith.....per my email.....I stand corrected. There is a separate Friends program for Canada.

On the issue of the wheels, I obtained a number for the Canadian Chrysler Customer Service Center.

It is.......
