In a few hours the largest contingent of Prowlers ever gathered outside of CAAP or Mike K's garage will convene. They are expecting 60 to 65 Cats. My question is, How many will be absolutely stock? I would guess less than 5, probably 2 and quite possibly none. I would imagine some of the cars picked up this week would still be stock and if Gary C is renting a cat, it should be stock for a few hours, at least. What do you guys think? ------------------ |

Ed - what's a stock Prowler? Mine wasn't stock when I bought it. And now....... Actually they have a totally stock 99 Black for sale on the Thrifty Car Rental Sales lot next to our office ($33,500). I don't think it was a rental - never saw Thrifty offer Prowlers for rent. My son Ryan stopped in there on his way to see me and commented on how plain it looked. To answer your question I expect about 10% will be stock. ------------------ Driving my Dream This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 03-09-2002 at 08:21 AM |

It wouldn't surprise me if every Kat at the event has had something changed. It may be as simple as ceramic brake pads. I prefer to think of the changes as "personalizing" the car. ------------------ |

I've been thinking about this a little bit and it seems that almost everyone on Prowleronline.com has done something - mud flaps, ceramic brake pads, chrome grill treatment, or a number of other possibilities. But, of the few Prowlers I have met on the streets; those people who do not participate on this forum, seem to keep their cars stock for the most part. Maybe, there are a higher concentration of modified cars represented here because a lot us turned to the internet in search of something we wanted to change. Really depends on your definition of stock. I would consider my car completely stock simply because it has no after market parts on it and nothing removed that changes looks or performance. Only thing I removed was the sunvisors. Cuz they served no purpose as far as I could tell. And yes the event was cool. Got to finally meet some of the people and see a ton of Prowlers in one area. |

I bought my car new and it already had mudflaps on all four wheels. I don't consider removing the sunvisors, mudflaps, brake pads, etc. as no longer being stock. When I got the car I did not foresee changing anything. I thought it was perfect the way it was. I thought everyone was desecrating the car by changing it. Then I slowly but surely started "Improving" the car. I swear I will never get as carried away as Marty, however. I will go to meetings and try to be cured first. lol. I still think the car looks great stock but us kids just have to tinker, I guess. ------------------ |

Ed - I have initiated the process to stop myself from addiction to altering my Prowler. It's called O balance in the checking account!! Maybe I should just go cold turkey and buy a 93 Camry LE to drive to POA events. Hopefully you will some warmer weather later this week to get your KAT out for another cruise. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

I had it out today. It is cold but after that big rainstorm we no longer have salt everywhere. I called the city and asked them to spread some SNOW to disolve all the salt they have spread the last few weeks. They missed an early snowfall and have over compensated the rest of the winter. ------------------ |

We were so busy trying to get cars parked, pictures set up, introductions made, # of cars counted, people registered, and who knows what else, never dawned on me (at least) to determine the number of stock cars there. But since we were figuring out that we had 1 gold, 1 candy red, 1 Woodward, a couple of Black Ties, and then some cars with hard tops, and other modifications....didn't stop to determine how many had flames, how many just striped, etc. Guess we need to put someone in charge of that next time, lol. I have to agree with Dawn (purplecat) though......people arrive saying they love their cars just as they are....then the next time you see them, they've made all sorts of changes! There were several stock cars though.....and I can only say that because I had to direct them to the back of the parking lot. But that's another story......... and no, I'm not partial. Really. So that is why I ended up in the back of the parking lot... Now I know... Stock Kats go the back lot.... ------------------ |

Unless of course you're the only one with a Candy Red Then you get to move it all over the place until they find a nook for ya. Then they take the pic and send you to the back. Dawn, it was good to see some other San Diego Prowlers around. Funny how you never see one driving around but then we had 60 all in one spot. Too cool.

AHhhh almost forgot. Sorry to whom I am addressing this message but I forgot your name. The one that took pictures of me and my wife by my Candy Red. How did the pics turn out? Could you throw them in my scrapbook? Thanks. Adam |

Now wait a second Adam! You had very special parking - right on the edge....so no one could hurt your cat! And don't make me have this sound like you received preferential treatment! lol.....we were extra nice to you because it was your first time out with us. :-) Hope you had a good time. Debbie |

quote: Now Dawn,,,Debbie is always incharge of color coordination (see Cliff Watson's female brain post) and it had nothing to do with being a stock Prowler. Usually, the back spot or cheap seats is reserved for Eddie 'Mohawk' Monahan when he attends an event in his red cat. We place him there to keep him away from the rest of us! Adam and Stacey - nice to meet you and thanks for bringing the new candy red for us to see,,,,,,nice. ------------------ |

Hehe I know I had good parking. Right next to the green machine that looked like something out of Junkyard Wars. =D It definitely great to meet everyone. I'm still torn on what to do with the car. I love modifying cars but at the same time part of me wants to keep this baby stock. I guess I'll let time decide. Adam |
