I know; we haven't even been through two months of 2002 and still have Colorado and Woodward Dream Cruise this year, but I remember some talk of having an event in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in 2003. Is this still on the long range map? I would suggest dates other than Memorial weekend due to availabilty and costs of rooms there on Holidays. Are there any other potential sites? Seems to me October, 2002 is a prime time for that area. ------------------ |

Marty, originally it was to be handled by GaryC and Laddie and they invited me to help since I lived closer to Gatlinburg than they did. CJ also posted some valuable website information. Laddie and me are still planning on having the event but it is not on the front burner until after a few more months. Gary C has bowed out since he is selling his Prowler. We will not be staying in Gatlinburg, but rather in Pigeon Forge, in all probability. We will seek input for dates and will check to see what other events are already scheduled for the area. There are a lot of car shows there in May and September and a few every other month from Spring to Fall. You were not in the POA at that point but we will glad to let you help now that you have so graciously offered. lol. We can talk it over at Churchill Downs. There should be enough work involved to keep everyone busy. We can all plan events for separate days. ------------------ |

Rich, you are getting confused with Viagra. It's actually spelled Niagara not Niagra. We could do both events if they were spaced apart by a bit. *nice edit Rich, but now they won't understand the joke* This message has been edited by Wayne Finch on 02-25-2002 at 10:19 PM |

Not wanting to step on any toes here, but I'd like to suggest San Antonio, Texas River Walk OR Kansas City, Missouri. The center of the states seems a natural for more to attend, and Texas has paid its dues providing many owners who travel long distances to reach the past events. Ouch, you stepped on my toes. We decided two years ago that after going west we would have one in the eastern third. That way the people from the east coast get a chance to participate instead of driving 1500 to 2500 miles. How about the midwest in 2004. I realize the Texas guys have driven west in the past but I drive 1000 miles to get to Texas to THEN drive west. That is not a slam at Texas or any of the very active people from Texas. They had the Texas Speedway event, also. I think the group is getting so large that there will be more and more events and naturally there will be some conflict with timing. That cannot be helped. The Canadians want to have an event and I am fully supportive of that and will definitely try to make that. (One or two of them seem to be okay people. ) Then we have to throw Woodward into the mix. I would like to make every event but it is simply not possible. I am not upset about the suggestion but the Smoky Mtn. trip was in the works for at least 18 months, I would think. JOMO. Rich, you are hired if you work cheap. There will be plenty of work to go around, I am sure. Laddie is actually in charge but I am sure he will be pleased to accept any help offered. ------------------ This message has been edited by ed monahan on 02-25-2002 at 09:46 PM |

Ed, I've heard of Viagara Falls. The water goes up I've been told. As Ed stated, The group is just getting too large to not have some duplications of dates. Don't take it personally. If I could, I would be at every event. While I would love to (and am going to try) to go to Pidgeon Forge, BUT if I cannot, should I not plan anything in California for those days? I don't think so! I'm open to anything, and I was just giving my opinion. The majority rules, I alway say. Atleast we have people thinking and planning ahead. We are all in this together.

Wayne, in the top picture is that barge leaking fuel? Looks like the Exxon Valdez? Just kidding, I know it is just shallow water. Beautiful scenery. I agree with both Larry and Larry and their brothers Daryl and Darrell. Majority rules so if everyone wants to go elsewhere, we will go elsewhere. We will open up dialogue about the exact dates in a few months. ------------------ This message has been edited by ed monahan on 02-25-2002 at 11:28 PM |

Ed - In the bottom picture,,,,,,,,,,,,,near the 25 cent telescope stand,,,,,,,,,,,,is that you and the Wyoming Bull Ryder? Maybe Gary's black Prowler boat could go over the falls, and we could guess how long it will take to sink?

If that is the Canadian side, it would be a 15 cent telescope but I don't know if the negative is reversed. It is a foreign flag but I thought the river flowed in that direction making it the USA side. I am really confused now. ------------------ |

We will be going to an event in Pigeon Forge in July; may be able to offer some assistance or comment. This is a really super area and very car friendly; if you have been to the street rod show, in August I think, it is something else! In fall we Tennessee fans turn this place a nice shade of orange, LOL. Gordon |

Since I started this thread, here is my view: I agree with those that say we are beginning to have many regional events (this is good) and should not worry about if we are overlapping each other. Obviously consideration should be given to scheduling events in the same state or area. I believe regional events and recruiting new people to participate is important in the long run. In my opinion POA should strive to have one National Event each year that moves from region to region perhaps most of the time - but not always - somewhere between the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains so that the same people do not have always have to travel the longest distance. In addition I would like to see Woodward Dream Cruise stay an annual event. It is a CAR event, more than just Prowlers and has a totally different feel to it than a POA only event. (this is assuming that CJ and Carol or someone is willing to organize and plan annually) As far as Gatlingburg - I would be happy to help plan something since we visit there almost annually anyway. To me Pigeon Forge is nice but we would prefer to rent a chalet up the mountain overlooking the valley. JMO Marty |

This is what is so great about the United States of America (and Canada, too!). We've lived in Michigan 3 times, Colorado twice, Ohio once and Utah once. During our time in these places, we did a lot of traveling, not only in those states, but the surrounding areas. There is SO much to see and do in this country! We will never lack for places to have a Prowler event! It is great to see that other owners are jumping in and starting to plan more regional-type events. We will have to keep in mind that not everyone has unlimited vacation time. As events are being planned, all of us will have to pick and choose which ones we are most interested in and are most feasible to attend, even if they are on or around the dates of another event. Event planning is a lot of work as those of us who have done it know and those of you who are going to try it will find out. The nice thing, though, is that you will always find people who are willing to help. A word of advice to those who are going to try planning an event.......if someone offers help...TAKE IT!!! It's hard to manage on your own! The idea of one National event is a good one; however, how do we determine which event should be the National one? We certainly would not want to hurt anyone's feelings that their event wouldn't be appealing enough to be considered a "National" event. Something to ponder, I guess! Laddie and Ed........I'm here to help with any event that you need assistance with. Woodward Dream Cruise? Will always be here, right along with Carol and me!! Just my thoughts on the subject! |

Once again, well said CJ. I would love to see many places in North America and it obviously isn't a big thrill to see the Falls one more time. But I would definitely be happy to help out in an event like that. Prowler events are as much or more about the people than the place. That said, Niagara could be the First INTERNATIONAL Prowler Event!! ------------------ |

Marty, that is an interesting proposal about the chalet. We have stayed up at Cobbly Knob above the golf course a few times. The driveways there would not be accessible to a Prowler. I have never stayed on the mountain north of town, except in a motel type condo. We need a place where everyone would be close enough together to get together in the evening, also. We will have to talk about that in May, also. ------------------ |
