Today I drove home (at night unfortunately) but still with the top down my brand new, Deep Candy Red 2002 Beauty! It brought a tear to my eye T_T It wasn't supposed to happen this soon and to be honest I wish it hadn't. Now I have to make financial changes to accomdate her a little differently than I had planned but I'm exstatic nontheless. I can't stop looking at her. Now I turn to the pro's. Can someone please post the link to newbie info again please? Also I want a damn T-Shirt so keep the replies comin. Not once, not twice, but at least thrice x the normal posts. Besides I need to know the rundown. PS: Almost forgot. I tried out the autostick mode. Although it worked just fine I noticed there was about 1/2 an inch throw when upshifting and almost no budge when downshifting. I just pressed it and hoped it downshifted which it did. Is this normal? I would think the throw would be equal on both sides? |

Here is to your new T-shirt, and I guess to your new car, too. Congratulations. They are definitely beautiful. I have never noticed any difference in the length of the shift. Just give it a quick flick. Others will post. You can do a search off of the main page. On the right side there is a bunch of options. Search is the last option. Type in newbie. ------------------ |

Actually there probably aren't any more shirts left. Ed got most of them before you and then he sells them to you when you are in Colorado and it gets cold and you forgot to bring any warm clothes. lol ------------------ |

Lol. I'm still smiling and am having a blast. I just wish the engine was broken in so I could really have some fun. =) How long did most of you drive before the engine was broken in? I think the manual (yes I looked at it while I was waiting for 45min to sign papers) said it has an early break in period of 300 miles. I want to break it in right so I've been keeping it under 55mph. I got the car with 10 miles on it and it has about 100 miles now =) I just got it yesterday. One thing that kind of surprised me was the amount of bumpiness in the car while driving. I guess they weren't kidding about that formula one suspension. It's like being on a rollercoaster. I noticed some minor, small scratches on the rear wheel well. I know most people would dismiss them saying it's going to happen anyway but I'm anal and it kinda bugs me. There's also 2 big scratches in one of the instrument guages. How hard are those to replace? The plastic cover that is. I'd hate to take it back and wait over a few scratches but it's alot of money to spend on those flaws. Any suggestions? |

Ride in a 99 or 97 Cat and you will think your 2002 rides excellent. I don't remember about how long I took to break it in. I put almost 1000 miles on it instanly. Waited until the second oil change to switch to full synthetic motor oil about 5000 miles. I would get those things fixed by the dealer. I believe the instrument cluster and the top of the dash are one piece. Could be wrong????????. Repairs and parts for the Prowler are expensive get anything that needs fixing done under warranty or you will likely regret it later. You probably already know this but just in case if you are picky install the front fender flaps immediately. |

I just noticed another little weird thing. God I hope I'm just being paranoid. In the rear view mirror there's 2 little slots, one on each side of the buttons. On the right there's a little green light that's always on. On the left it appears to be MISSING something. I can see into the back where there's a little microchip or something. Is this normal? I'll go to a dealership and look at another Kat to confirm this later. Still SMILIN! =D How do we get pics up for our signatures and stuff? |

There is nothing missing on the mirror. The 'hole' contains a photo cell for adjusting the photochromatic mirror. You will really like that mirror at night with headlights behind you. If I remember my manual, I think it said that short full throttle bursts would help break the engine in. It also said not to use full throttle in low gear as that could hurt the engine. To put in a signature or banner at the bottom of your post, edit your profile (there is a link near the top of this page.) The avatar (the picture on the left of the post) is put in by an administrator. There are instructions on this on the edit profile page also. So, it's a T-shirt you're after, eh? Well, if you don't get it on posts, I'll send you one. It might have nothing whatsoever to do with Prowlers but I'm sure I can find something in a drawer that doesn't fit anymore. Just Kidding!! Welcome to the nicest board in the car nut world.
