On Friday afternoon, I had a meeting with management of the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant (CAAP). They have agreed to allow us to come to the plant for a tour/tribute day. The date will be Friday, February 8, 2002. The plant will conduct a tour/meeting with the plant workers. They will be providing a lunch for us. After lunch, they will arrange a gathering of the Prowler production workers and our group so that we can do our gift presentations. I know that everyone wanted it to be the last day of production, but it was explained that they picked the week prior for several reasons. The production line is divided into stations. During the last week, as the last cars move down the production line, the stations will then be closed and those workers will be gone. By the time the last car gets through all the stations and is at the end of the line, most of those workers could be gone. Since we wanted to include all of the Prowler line workers, they felt it would be better to do this the week before when everyone would still be there. Please remember, too, that the last day for them is qoing to be very difficult. They are not really giving us a choice, but I am grateful that they have even agreed to it at all. In addition, they are going out of their way to be accommodating and planning this day for us. The visit will most likely begin at 10:00 am. It will be followed by lunch and a visit to the Corner Store. I have a couple other possible activities in mind for the afternoon, also. What I need to know now is who will be coming for this event and how long you are planning to stay. I would be happy to plan some other activities for Friday afternoon, evening, and Saturday. I will make arrangements at the Homestead Hotel with a group rate. Will provide more information later. Please provide me with the following information: 1. Full name and number of people you are bringing. 2. Address and phone number. 3. What day you are arriving and departing. In addition, I am still collecting donations for the gift that we are planning for the plant workers. If you are planning to donate towards these gifts, please email me and/or send your donation to: CJ Longstreth Thank you to those of you who have already sent and/or committed to donations. The management at CAAP was very touched and pleased that we are planning to honor these people in this manner. ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

CJ. What time does it start?? I'm thinking of just flying in for the day. If so what would be the closest major airport and is there someone who could pick me up?? I'm trying to make this work. thanks, MadMikey ------------------ |

MadMikey.......It most likely will begin at 10:00 a.m. Keep in mind the time change between here and Vegas when checking into flights. To arrive in the morning, it would have to be pretty early in order for you to make it on time and then there is rush hour traffic to deal with. If there is any way that you could fly in the night before, I can pick you up at the airport with no problem. Oh, forgot, you need to fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport. If I pick you up, you won't need a car, you can ride with me! This message has been edited by CJ on 01-14-2002 at 07:20 AM |
