There has been a extensive debate over in the performance section. My friend has not seen the improvement he had envisioned when he installed the gears in his Prowler. Therefore tonight we are going to finally try and see what the result is. Numerous people speculate there may be a problem with the vehicle. Is there anyone in the area with another geared prowler that would be willing to come out, so we can see the difference between the three? It would be fabulous to have a few people offer their advice.. We are intending on meeting up around 10:00p.m. Anyone interested in joining in, please let me know.

Thanks!

First I want to say this G-tech is the Kats Meow.

One more thing, these cars have the Carlini Borla Exhaust, when I first picked up my Kat with this modification I could tell right away I lost some bottom end but I gained alot of top end Power and the times show it.
Hear we go.
The book and Bob Longstreth told me to do this also. Throw out the best and worse and average the rest and you will have your info. These are in Order.

0-60...ET...MPH, Yes I did all 1/4 miles too

5.88 14.53 98.6 Not warmed up, almost
6.04 14.63 97.6
6.06 14.69 96.6
6.08 14.67 97.4
6.02 14.62 97.6
6.18 14.80 95.8

Let me tell you what I did on that crappy last pass, I hit the gas super super Prowlerman quick, there was a lag, I could tell I hit the gas tooooo hard. Let me put it this way, my knee hurts.

This is the 2000, with 18700 miles on it. AND HAS THE MAC INTAKE.

OK, we throw out the best and worst and then average.

0-60......ET.......MPH
6.05**14.652**97.3

BTW, All Done in Drive.

1000 feet
51 F
31% humidity

Readem and weep 2000 owners.

Remember this 1999 also has the Carlini Borla Exhaust with no other modifications.

0-60...ET...MPH

5.92 14.63 95.7 It hated the 2-3 shift
5.82 14.62 97.8
5.69 14.34 98.5 Instantly I knew this was fast
5.87 14.53 97.9
5.89 14.52 98.5

The 1999 shifts softer than the 2000.

0-60......ET......MPH
5.86**14.52**98.06

I just realized the my driver license is expired!

Can't get out tonight. I agree with GaryC, run the car in drive, do NOT use auto stick. I can possibly get out tomorrow. I have gears and intake w/egr valve.

Hey Paul,
Sometime tomorrow evening would be great! I have to work tomorrow during the day. I really hope we can meet up, so we can actually see a real world test, car vs car. I don't know how much faith I have in the G-Tech's times being accurate. But it should give a pretty accurate time difference between two cars.
I have posted some results on the Performance area from tonights runs. It only averaged to be about a .2 tenth diffrence between our cars.
My best time according to the G-Tech was a 14.07.
And I will tell you that Drive is definately the way to go in a 1/4 mile race! It showed!
Maybe my Prowler is one of those rare cars that just run good out of the box. I don't know. What is the fastest stock prowler you've seen? I really think that 14.07 was luck. My average came out to a 14.4 and Kris' car came out to a 14.2 I believe.
Paul if you think you can get out tomorrow evening please let me know a good time and place for you.

Thanks!

All my passes were done at a stop with no powerbraking. Left at an idle.

That would be great if you could come out tomorrow night or hey maybe you might want to go to the track with me at noon in Royce city. It's an 1/8 mile track but it will be fun. I 'm not going to go bymyself but if someone would go with me that would be great. I have a yearing to see what the ole prowler will do in the 1/8. Our 1/4 mile times seem to be a little fast on the G-tech but you never know.Even if you can't come out sunday then stay in touch Ron and I are always up for some cruising around in the prowlers. But tuesday the ole cat is getting some special treatment with a little nos power. Email us somtime or if you would like to go tomorrow which is accually today (sunday) give me a call 214-577-0937

Kris.

The fastest Stock Prowler I've seen was a run by Dave Foshee at Texas Speed Weekend last year (March 2001) at River City Raceway near San Antonio. We had 25 Prowlers that day.

Dave's fastest time was 14.867 at 92.4 mph. The next closest Stock were JP (14.91 & 89 mph) & Bryant (14.91 & 91.3 mph). I don't remember the temps that day. Could have been in 70s.

I've seen lots of Stock Prowlers run (15.0 to 15.4 ET) & your friend has one fast Stocker... Your're .2 faster than that... It will be interesting to see how the times on track compare to Gtech... I've always heard that the Gtech was accurate on the ET but the mph were a little higher than track...

The 14.4 for stock Prolwer is AWESOME. I was expecting low 14 to high 13's. Being as though I'm heavier than the average bear may be a difference. Call me 972-323-0717

At the strip, the MPH is calulated by an average speed over the last 66 ft. Gtech is calulated by the end of the quarter.

A few of us made it to the Redline Raceway today. This is an 1/8 mile track that attracks some pretty fast cars. Cnote & myself met kaj75 and his buddy Ron. They both have the '01 Orange and '01 Silver. Interesting to say the least. I think the fastest 1/8 was 9.31 and the slowest was 9.64 most in the 9.50's. It was very windy with a cross breeze, but great traction. Watch some really sharp fast cars running 5.20-5.30 1/8's! Looks like a weekend party on the making. Ron's '01 Silver is a quick all stock kat that ran a 9.41 1/8. Had a blast and will do it again soon as I can.

Yes, I enjoyed my short time at the track today. It was great to meet two new Prowler enthusiasts. Both Pauls and Chris' cars are very topnotch. I was able to make one pass against Kris' car and I am posting the time slip here, so everyone can see.
Hope we can get together again soon!
