There is a 1999 Red Prowler with a "Buy it Now" price of $30,000. It has 24,000 miles on it. I guess that sums up my fears of what the new red will do to the price of the original red. There is a Mulholland starting at $ 35,000 without a reserve. It has 50 miles on it. There is also an auction for one Rear Prowler RIM, supposedly used for display purposes only. ------------------ |

Ed During times like this, you will find a few that are desperate and need to sell now no matter what. Actually this is the best time to buy and really the worst time to sell. Not for long! I have spoken to a lot of car news people lately, and all agree that the Prowler will become a true collectors car. Not in the near future, but I would say in 3-5 years you will see prices go up. If the economy was better, you would not see this, if all the true car buffs knew "NO MORE PROWLER" was around the corner. MORE GOOD NEWS - DC IS STICKING TO THE RETRO THEME FOR 2002 PROMOTIONS. I am not concerned at all with what current Prowlers are selling for. I recently spoke to my Uncle who first informed me about the end of production of the Prowler. He knows collectors who own many higher-priced automobiles. I will not go into specifics of what he said here, because I do not wish to speculate, but what he told me falls exactly in line with what Sassy mentioned. The only thing I have to say is hold on to your Prowlers and don't sell if you are not forced to. One reason is because the more that are for sale, the more supply there is, producing lower selling prices. The other is that we all may be surprised what happens in the next four years or so with the values. Once the supply dimishes, it will be interesting to see what happens. Also, from what I have seen of the new Candy Red, I am keeping my "original" red. ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.1 With EGR Bypass Kit Future Mods: This message has been edited by William Gallagher on 12-28-2001 at 09:08 AM |

I am not considering selling my cat. When I see the new Red in person I may be doing a flip flop but I doubt it. I will have a Red prowler until I am totally infirm. (I would estimate another year and a half) ------------------ |

I'm working on buying a new one now, the prices on the Prowlers are pretty good.... but my Vette tradein numbers blow!!!! I have had a couple dealers that just flat out gave up on me I guess.... as soon as I said I had a Vette trade, they never called back with any trade numbers. I do have 3 dealers locally that are close. Gotta figure out a way......LOL ------------------ |

I have a feeling that Prowler prices will not escelate the way we'd like due to the fact that there will be so many low milage, wonderfully kept units around. You guys need to start driving these beauties and not washing them so darn often. |

I think high 20's, low 30's is the fair market value right now for 1999's. As far as the future is concerned, you would probably be better off with some high grade corporates or ginnie mae's yielding 6 to 6 1/2%, compounding for you. |

Really guys, that's even too much for a cat with 24K on it. That many miles is hard to sell when there are a lot of cars around right now with ASKING prices in the mid-thirties that have little or no miles on them |
