I have a 2001 Orange, all stock, and am very happy so far. I'm wondering about the experiences of those of you with older Prowlers - have they been reliable, and would an extended warranty be worthwhile? I generally tend to stay away from them because they wouldn't be offered if they weren't a good deal for the sellers, but in the Prowler's case I wonder... Also, if I decide to Paxton-up the kat later in life, there goes the power train warranty anyhow. Opinions? jd (east) ------------------ |

JD, This is the only car that I have ever bought an extended warranty on. I purchased a 7 year 70,000 with 0 deductable. There are several reasons I chose to do this. First is that any part for this car is very expensive. Secondly, I would only allow a certified Prowler tech to work on it, and we know how expensive it is at a dealership for labor. Third, they were offered at $200 dollars I think it was over cost from someone at this site. And lastly, I do plan on keeping mine for a long time, but in the event I don't it certainly will help a lot with resale. ------------------ |

I think an extended warranty is a very good idea and buying one before my car is two years old. I was recently quoted $1,080.00 for a 7 year/50,000 mile, zero deductible extended waranty. The parts are very expensive and I have had over a thousand in warranty work performed already at no charge. My dealership takes very good care of my car and all my concerns. I believe some have had work done under warranty even with a super charger installed. Maybe someone will reply to that. The price goes up on the warranty evry year you wait. Shop around for the best deal. ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

John - I thought the best prices on extended warranty were when you buy it before the cat is one year old. Laddie's guy seems to give the best deal in the country: Bob Cooper, Causeway Chrysler, 1-800-259-5337. DC warranty good anywhere, give him a try, and save $100 to $150 ------------------ |

JD - I elected to purchase the Extended Warranty - 70,000/7year option primarily due to the cost of any replacement parts ect for this car - nothing is cheap on the Prowler. I feel it is only prudent to "Cover One's A**" in situations like this and it has proved correct as I have had a few "minor" warranty situations. Bob Cooper at Causeway Chrysler seems to be the "Go-To" guy as he has continuously offered the best prices for the Maximum Extended Care Warranty. A lot of the Prowler owners that post here have purchased their coverage from him and recomend him. Check A/C's post as he has listed Coopers phone number. Good luck and Happy Prowling, ------------------ |

Yes, the first year is the best time to buy. There is a premium for every year you wait. I have tried to reach Bob Cooper 5 times. He is always busy and hasn't returned my calls. $1,080.00 is a very good price for the 7 yr. / 50,000 mile ,zero deductable, IMO... for a almost 2 year old cat and 10,000 miles on it. Let me know if you hear better. May try Bob one more time, but ready to go for it. ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

Bob Cooper's price was $905 on 7 year, 50,000 mile, no deduct. I'm sure other mileage plans and deductable will be the best price out there available. If he is busy, call back with your wife or lady making the call.....tell whoever answers that this is his wife, and she needs to speak to him 'right now'!!! Learned that from Ed M. |

Laddie - hope my above post wasn't in your printout? Bob does have humorous side, right? Ed, why did you teach me that? |

I did not buy the extended warranty. I have had my Cat for 3 1/2 years. I have never found them to be worthwhile. I may be wrong in this case, but so far, so good. ------------------ |

Yes, I did talk to Bob and he was within $5.00 of my local source. The lower price is if you buy the warranty in the first year. Thanks, Bob Cooper is a good source. ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

I also bought the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty. At approx 5K mileage per year I will reach 7 years first. I have the $200 deduct version. With this being a limited production car I figured almost any needed repairs would be very very expensive. And as Blue Tiue pointed out I wouldn't feel safe taking it anywhere but toa certified Prolwer tech. Lets face it this is a machine and machines can break. This is the only car I have ever purchased the extended warranty for and probably will remain so. ------------------ |

Thanks for your opinions, everyone. I think I'll look into the warranty before my first year is up. I have a personal friend who handles warranties, financing, and accessories at a DC dealership - if he's interested in quoting to the group I'll post his numbers. jd (east) ------------------ |
