You were all speculating about the V8 Prowler........ here's a picture (not a great scan of the picture) of the Dick Marriott LS1-powered Prowler, modified by Chip Foose. The picture was scanned from the January 2002 issue of Super Rod, featuring America's 100 Hottest Super Rods! It is a 2-page fold-out calendar. |

Like Cliff said, too bad the hood isn't open. I wonder about the rest of the drivetrain also??? At least I have another look at classic hot rod lights on the Prowler. Rich Ware - is this the same car you posted a photo of about a month ago, but without the flames (and V8)? Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Larry, dont think I havn't thought about it! If the car wasn't so computer dependent, it would be done. |

Marty Yes, that is the very same car. I knew it had a Chevy V8 in it. The headlights and that grille work very well. The rear is heavily customized as well. I hear there is in excess of 150K in this car. And that figure may be low. |

What a joke. A Chevy powered Prowler. They can run that thing right into the craper as far as I'm concerned. There isn't one Mopar crate motor that wouldn't put that garb-ro-let in it's place. |

Cat o, are you ok, I think the specs on an LS1 motor are pretty good, however can you tell me which "mopar" crate motor can out perform the LS1 and fit in the prowler? ------------------ |

Brand loyalty is admirable, but let's be realistic--an LS1 is pretty hard to beat. I don't think many small block Mopar crate engines are much of a threat. You're looking at around 400 gross hp right out of the box with a bottom-of-the-barrel F-body LS1. Most of them dyno over 300 hp at the rear wheels. |

Well lets see now. Mopar has two small block crate motors. Both 360'S. One 300 hp and the other 380. I've seen and read many of the small block shootouts and Mopar always comes out on top in the torque department. Granted small block Chevys have been mounted in everything from lawnmowers to toilet seats but this is really besides the point. The Prowler is not some 1930's replica that was built in a garage. It doesn't deserve to be down graded by shoe horning in a brand X engine. And by the way, if you really want to see just how potent small block Mopars are just check out the way they destroyed Ford and Gm in the nascar truck series. Not to mention Mark Kinser in the Supermods. |
