To anybody that lives in the Morristown NJ area: I had chrome peeling off one of my rims, again. Different rim this time. I have been going to Hilltop in Summit to have anything I needed done. I took my Kat there and showed them the rim. They took one look and said no problem but that they had to order one. The next day Al the service manager call to say that they located one (even though the last time I had to wait almost a month due to back orders) and would have it the next day. The only problem was that they didn't have the machine to fix it there.
There were two options they could take the wheel off and get it done. This might take a day or two because they were very busy or I could take the new rim to the nearest Goodyear shop to have it done myself and they would cut me a check for the cost. I had nothing better to do that day so I told them I could go and get it done. We to the Goodyear shop, about 10 miles away, and got right in. The service people there let me drive the Kat on to and off of there racks. Actually they pretty much refused to drive the car themselves because they knew how special a Kat is to it's owners. I was in and out in about 45 minutes. Hilltop called and told them to check the balance on all the wheels. Buy the time I got back to Hilltop, Al had talked to the Goodyear dealer to make sure everything was turned out OK and had a check waiting for me with his apologies for not being able to balance the rear rims in his own shop. No matter what I have thrown at Al he always smiles and fixes it. Never had any problems that they wouldn't fix. Once I even caught the hood release on one of my boots getting out of the Kat and snapped it off. I told them what happened not trying to screw over a good service shop. His answer: We'll cover it, they should have made that lever stronger in the factory.

Just wanted to let anybody in the area know that Hilltop rates #1 in my book. There not as modern looking as some of the new dealers and aren't as big, but that doesn't matter to me when there service and personal is at this level.

Thanks very much for the report. I have been fortunate in not having to take my Prowler to any mechanic so far, but I'm sure that I'll need a good dealer to help me when I need some warranty work. It's great to know someone like Hilltop is there!

This was a very refreshing story to read regardless of where you reside. And it was nice of you to post this for the benefit of those in your area and to help this dealer get more business which he well deserves.

If I were in your area, I would be willing to drive quite a little distance to patronize this dealer.

Maybe sometime this board might add something like "Dealer Comments". And this might help dealers like this that deserve our business.
