Just waxed my car on Friday and noticed that I had a couple of nicks in the paint. I do have the splash guards on but I guess they didn't work all that well. Does anyone know of any products that will remove them? I've seen some advertised on info-mercials, and just wondering if anyone has tried any out. I've checked previous threads but didn't find anything. I don't know if they are too deep to buff out. ------------------ |

Al, nicks are tough. I have always had low front end sports cars (currently an NSX) and chips and nicks are always a problem. I have tried everything, the latest being that Lanka system. The only thing that somewhat mitigates the chips is old fashion touch up paint. If you invest in a good modeling brush, a very thin one, maybe 00, and take your time, the chips are almost invisible from 6 feet away. Start slowly, put a little in the chip, let it dry, the paint always receeds as it drys, then apply some more. Be patient, take a few days. If you really want to be aggressive, get some 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper. Build up the paint, then using the paper wet, slowly take it back down. You will be able to get the new paint to the same height as the old paint, but the optics will always be different, the light will reflect differently bring attention to the chip. It still will look better than not fixing it. At some point, you'll get enough of chips and just repaint the front piece. Good luck. |

I agree with Tom, his method is the tried and true best one. If the chips are on the rockers you won't see them anyway you do the job properly. JRL |

AL, If by info-mercial you are talking about is the amazing GS7 scratch remover, don't waste your money, have it, tried it. It only works on scratches that are not visible to the human eye. I agree with Tom, touch up paint will make it less noticeable but there is no perfect cure other than repaint. ------------------ |
