I am SO jealous!!! I grew up in Oakhurst and Bass Lake...graduated from Bass Lake Elem. and Yosemite HS right there in Oakhurst!! Friday dinner should be at Ducey's right on Bass Lake at "The Pines" if possible. Though it is of note that the Ducey's at The Pines is NOT the original. The original Ducey's Bass Lake Lodge was between The Pines and The Falls, and it was featured in the movie "The Great Outdoors" with the late, great John Candy. Remember the bar scene with the buffalo head on the wall, and the piano that had silver dollars around the edge? I grew up playing that piano and washing dishes in the restaraunt because my parents owned it. The original Ducey's burnt down to the ground in '86 (I think), and my wife had the chance to stay there just before it happened. Sorry...I was waxing reflective there (tears in the eyes!!) But, wanna hear something funny? I graduated from Bass Lake Elem. in '78, class of a whole 6 of us! We were out for my mom's funeral in '89 and our son was 8 months old. We stopped by the school just to have a look around....and all but ONE of my teachers were STILL THERE! Having been in the Navy or married to it most my adult llife I was amazed at that...PLEASANTLY amazed. How it must feel to have a place and never move?!?!!? Ok, you caught me in a soft moment...won't hapen again!! ------------------ |

quote: Know exactly what you mean. Can't count all the times I wished we could have stayed in one place and put down some real roots. We weren't military.......just car company. They can be almost as bad. In 34 years of marriage, we have had to move 11 times......6 of those were state-to-state moves! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

quote:I think that would be COOL!!! You won't be disappointed if you go!! As a teenager I had a 1972 Chevy Balzer, top came off all the way to the windshield and nothing but rollbar under the top. I used to take people on driving tours of Yosemite Valley, Wawona, Glacier Point, etc. In Oakhurst at the intersection of Rd. 426 and Hiway 41 is the "Talking Bear"...at least it USED to be there!! Not sure if there is room for a picture with many Kats though. Phil, next year our son and I will be on the West Coast...a final move for us...We'll take a long weekend and BE THERE! (Not likely to have a Prowler by then....settle for the snake??) ------------------ |

Vipermad, We have Prowlers, Vipers, Porsche's, Vette's, and others at some of our events. We enjoy the people. So I'm sure will will have another Yosemite Cruise. Think about Death Valley next year - look at the pictures from last year and talk to some that came.......
