I wasn't going to post this, but after reading Fidel's post. I felt I would tell all of you owner's in the US how
lucky you we're to have a lemon law, hopefully it's in all the states.

I have a major paint problem.. Right from day 1, I had complained about the quality of it.

1) The inside of the deck lid and trunk wasn't finished very good, not much paint on the inside at all, primer showing in some area's. The deck lid's lower bracket arms were'nt even painted they even had circle chalk marks around the bolts even. Plus the deck lid started rubbed the bottom valence when I opened it.(within one week) The first DC rep OK'D this to be fixed ( paint and repair inside the lid ect.) I also pointed out how crappy the whole paint job
looked he agreed but wouldn't go any farther at that time, it was a wait and see answer. Not really what I wanted to hear but I got part of the stuff fixed so ok for now. Because to get the rep to look at it only took about 4 mths or so.

While waiting to get it into my painter's shop, I got srayed by rock's from a gravel truck who's tail gate popped open just before he passed me. (ouch) Insurance was great. So between the warranty claim and the insurance and a little extra I put in I have the entire car redone.
Get it finished just in time for Deadwood run. It looks just awhsome my guy went the extra mile for me. I'm pumped
going to my first Run. Meet the the best people there, have a blast, come home. Couple of weeks later I'm cleaning the kat notice somethings wrong with the paint. Take it in right away John my painter has the head Sikiens rep come and look they do tests rep comes to the conclusion problem is with the paint underneath the last coat done. Now my car looks like a war zone.

My 5 star dealer goes out of his way to help. The Rep for
our province here won't even come over and look at the car.
He offer's $1500.00 can. or $1000.US to repaint the entire car, what a joke, So my painter calls the rep and has this conversation with him.

Keith I talked to Bernie Bernicki from Chrysler today, and his comments are as follows:

He stated the paint problems were not their problem, and they would give you $1500.00 as a token of goodwill. If you are not happy with that, you could go to arbitration or sue DC, but you will probably lose.

I stated that was not very good customer relations, that in buying a $70k car, you would expect to be better looked after. Plus you are a maltipal owner also.

His comments were,(here go's) Keith is too fussy. They(DC) has lost money on all of these cars-What does he think he has A LEXUS? IT'S JUST A CAR!!!!

As you can see, he was not very nice.

end of conversation Thanks, John Neil

John has signed a sworn statement to this conversation he had with BB so I'm putting together a nice letter with all the facts I can and off it goes to the head of DC Canada, hope this helps get some satisfaction.

Sorry for the long winded post just needed to vent this before I write the other letter..

Not good at all. Was the car repainted at a chrysler facility? If it was not, then unfortunately, I can see where they are coming from (not their rudeness). Whenever a repaint is done, the thinners or solvents that were used the second time could of reacted with the factory paint etc. It is lame but believe me, before I became a firefighter, I painted cars at a GM dealership for 13 years. We almost always would tell a customer that the factory paint has been painted over, and go talk to the person that just painted it, cause we are not covering it. It might not be fair, but that is how it works 90% of the time. Now, if it was painted at a DC dealer, that is a different story. If the car is on warranty, I would never take it to anybody but a certified DC dealer, just for the reason you are complaing about, it gives them an excuse not to cover it on warranty anymore. As for primer showing on inside of panels, again sometimes it is wiser not to worry about small defects, they can quite often turn into large defects. Good Luck!
