Go Ed !!! I had just talked with Rebecca about what she thought about bidding since she loved the Woodwards that we saw in Detroit. (plus University of Louisville colors are red & black) Hope you get it. Plus, Cleveland is not too far away from you. At least I can say I know someone else that bought their CAT on ebay. Some people look at me in astonishment when I tell them I got mine through ebay. Marty ------------------ This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 09-04-2001 at 09:11 AM |

Marty, I got my tax rebate today, so now I only need $ 37,400 to pay it off in cash. I really need another vehicle to pay insurance on. If I get it for $37,700 it is a great deal and if I don't I still can't complain. |

Guys; I don't think i quite understand the point of buying more than one Prowler. I know that they are cheap right now but do you buy more than one because you think the value is going to shoot up soon? Frankly i bought mine really because i believed DC when they said "Limited Edition" and thought i would make some money. Boy was i fooled!!!! With the downturn in the economy now and all the Prowlers that are unsold, it might take 5-10 years before these cars get up there where you could make some money. How about somebody explaining to me the whole point? |

You bought the Prowler to make money? That was pretty dumb. Here's why: Stock market average return over 60 years has been 12.1%. This means you money doubles every 6 years if you reinvest dividents. So if you spent $50k on your Prowler, and in 6 years you sell it for $60k, you're an idiot. In 6 years your stock market $50k would be worth $100k. Anyone who buys a vehicle as an investment doesn't know what investing is. (Apologies if this sounds mean, it's just honest truth, take it as you will! ) -Ben ------------------ |

Wow, some people don't get it. I own 6 and will have 7 when I am done, I dont give a good S#$t if any one else thinks they are worth 10 cents, I DO!! You want an investment , buy a deck chair from the titanic!! When the stock market goes up, which it has done since its inception, and production has stopped, which it will, you will be glad to have one and i will be GIDDY WITH ENTHUSIASM for having 6 or 7. If you dont drive it chrome it, and if you are worried about the value DONT BUY IT!!! |

BKG, No, I don't think the price will shoot up soon. I thought that a Woodward, which they produced 151 or 152 of, will be the most likely Prowler to be worth more money down the road. If I could get it cheap, $38,000, I might buy it to keep in original condition and not drive it. I have a Red Prowler that I drive and I have modified slightly. I agree the car is not a good investment as opposed to a stock investment. However, the stock market has taken a severe dive and you won't be making a lot of money the next few years. When the stock market goes back up, the economy will be rosier and there will be more discretionary income and someone may want a limited number Prowler. Then again, maybe not. It is a risk. About 18 months ago, someone posted that you were nuts to pay cash for a Prowler. Put the money in stocks. If you put $44,000 in stocks 2 years ago you probably now have $ 22,000 to show for it. Your Prowler is worth more than that. Besides that, I enjoy driving it and going to events. Other people have other opinions. That does not bother me at all. That is what makes the world interesting. I don't care if a few people, some people or most people agree with my decisions. As long as I am comfortable with my decision, I am satisfied. I bought my Red 99 without ever seeing a Red Prowler in person, without ever sitting in a Prowler and did not even know what size engine it had. I saw a picture on the internet and found a dealer in Indiana that had one. I bought it sight unseen over the phone and picked it up the next day. No regrets. I love it. Sometimes you have to make decisions based on something other than the bottom line. JOMO |
