I was driving around with my friend, who owns a regular Maxima (2000 SE) and always get excited when I talk about my Trans Am Ram Air (just ordered, where is it already!!) and its soon to be "celebrity" status on the Van Wyck.

My friend wants that status. Tired of driving around a boring Maxima, its great but not Growling Cat great (Some other person said its shallow to think this way, but I said thats something people with bad cars say.) He got a great deal on a Jaguar XK8 at 650$$ a month with nothing down.

Keep in mind he is 22 and is into hot cars. I told him when we passed a Plymouth dealership, why not get a Prowler. The car is the same price finance and is a freak of nature when it comes to stares. The ultimate babe magnet. Just drive by and open the door and they will come in.

So we went to the Chrysler dealership and they had a Prowler that he wanted, but they dont let any test drives.
"people buying this car already know what it does and they are collectors". My friend isnt gonna just buy a car without test driving it.

I told him I am over at ProwlerOnline.com and am sure someone would give him a spin in the car. We are over in NYC in Rockaway, (bottom of queens) if anybody is around there with a Prowler, it would be awesome. He can bring a Jaguar XK8 if anybody wants to try it out, (my trans am is not here yet)

Also in NYC can it possibly be a daily driver?
How does it do in the winter time?
Do the wheels or front fender things get ruined in potholes?

Daily driver? sure, in winter? well, this car has a lot of Aluminum... including the frame... I would highly suggest keeping her inside when not in use and not driving in rain or snow, but some people do just that. Pot holes? yep, VERY dangerous to these cars... especially since you need front fender mud flaps to keep rocks and road grit off the car, and backing up out of a pothole with these on has cost some people their front fender!

Yowsers, sounds like the car is only a daily driver in sunny california....

Than I guess it can be a weekend car to my trans ams daily grind if I decide to buy one.

Keep in mind these cars are hand made and really are aimed and delivered to a specialty crowd. Only 10,000 something have ever rolled off the line. 10,000 trans ams roll out every month if not sooner. If all the board was to answer it would be my bet that most of us do not use the cars as daily drivers, although a small amount of owners do. The Prowler is very very unique car and can not be compared to a tran am at any angle. If you were to drive and own one you would know better what I am talking about.

Be willing to drive a ways to buy one and you will get a better price. Surely there is a dealer in NY somewhere that sell quite a few of these. They will let you drive it around the block so to speak. However, as most of the people on this site told me when I was shopping and worrying about not having tested it, "just buy it, you will love the way it drives".

Handles great around curves. Great takeoff even in the stock version (unless comparing to a Viper or the such). Really feel the road, so it can be bumpy and you do have to watch out for speed bumps and pot holes. Very comfortable inside. Great sound. Terrible on snow. Visibility, with the top up, to the rear, takes some getting use to but is okay. Thought I would have trouble getting use to the center dash gages but I did not.

Net, net. Buy it you will like, no love it! Best impulse purchase I ever made! Even my wife admits that.... At least now!!
