I think this shows 'The Great Race' from Atlanta to Pasadena this summer. The cars and drivers went through St. Louis and stopped to spend the night. I went to look at them driving in and parking, and talked to some of the drivers. Very interesting variety of cars. The race is done in segments, with people at checkpoints timing whether the cars are passing the checkpoint early or late - timed to seconds. They are penalized with points for being seconds early or seconds late. The car with the least penalty points wins the race. The cars have a speedometer and a large clock with sweep second hand, no odometers, no hand held calculators. |

I taped it and watched it. They started out talking about and showing the Great Race and then went into the earliest cars, including steam powered autos, that have been restored and are still driven. A couple of the people emphasized the fact that the cars were made to be driven. If you want a museum piece you should just buy a picture of it. A young guy who works at the Ford Museum drives his 1915 Ford to work everyday. I thought it was a pretty interesting program. |

I watched it and liked it too. I'll probably hear from Larry as he had something to say about the "Hondo's Honkeytonk' site you recommended. ------------------ |
