Just got an email with an attachment that I did not down load. It was from Ericlee@micron.net, the file was titled Pawcalls.doc.bat The email said "I need your advice", do not down load and delete immediately. I do not know where these are coming from but suspect its someone related to the POA Board. Alex ------------------ |

If you know how to copy the e-mail headers, then post them here and I will have one of my computer security people trace it. DO NOT FORWARD AN E-MAIL THAT IS INFECTED. Just copy the headers here. |

That is the same virus that Ed used to get his free t-shirt Just a different person who is infected now has their pc sending out the virus (just like it did on Ed and Larry). I got it also. This virus has really been widespread - I am getting emails at work from all sorts of people that have emailed me in the past with the infected attachment. Just don't open the attachment and make sure it is removed from your hard drive. ------------------ |

David, Download this file to scan and clean your system http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/FixSirc.com The virus will only infect your computer if you opened the attachments. If anyone should receive an email from anybody with the following text DO NOT open the attachments and you should be fine: ************************************************* Everyone needs to remember that Ed is not responsible for this virus. He originally got infected from someone else and his computer emailed the same thing to everyone in his contact list without his knowledge. I understand that in the past few days this virus has being found in emails worldwide. ------------------ |

After you have cleaned your system - also have your anti-virus re-scan your hard drive to make sure all the offending files are gone. If you receive more offending emails after you have cleaned your system, rescan your hard drive to delete the new attachments that were sent to you. Just because you didn't open the attachements does not mean they are residing on your hard drive - all it means is that you have not activated the virus. Hope this helps. This virus is very wide spread and it may take a while before it calms down - which means - you may be scanning your drives often. Just do it when it is convenient - as long as you don't open the attachments they won't activate the virus. C'mon Mike - we can tease Ed about it can't we??? Thanks Mike, the check is in the mail. The other guy on the left coast, however, (CW) is getting a package. He may want to run it thru the LAPD scanner before opening it. lol This message has been edited by ed monahan on 07-24-2001 at 01:44 AM |

Ya'Know Ed - that I am only on the "left coast" when you are facing our Canadian friends... If you were looking south to Mike when you sent the package you sent it to the wrong place.... Watch out peeples on Ed's left coast.... ------------------ |

Cliff, Ted K sends his best. lol If the package is ticking it is probably just a toy, don't worry about it. Seriously, on this virus thing, I am still getting infected messages. The first time I ran the virus scan it told me I was still infected and to reboot and rerun it. I did that it apparently worked and got rid on it. Is there an easy way to check to see if we still have it in our computer or are we safe as long as we do not open it again? I am sort of tired of rebooting this thing twice a day. In other words, is there something we can check that will tell us if we are clean or not? Thanks for all of your help. |

Ed - the easiest thing to do is run that program from Symantic to clean your system. You may have to reboot into safe mode so it can clean the device area of your registry. After that your computer will be "clean." If you get offending emails after you are clean - use your anti-virus program (with the latest virus update) to scan your hard drive to remove those offending attachments. As long as you don't open the attachments you will be safe - but you still don't want them on your computer...you may be poking around one day and say "hmmmmmmmm what is this" and run it... oops. Hope this helps! ------------------ |

Ed, Take your computer in the shower with you and dump the whole bottle of Head n Shoulders over it , and you if you like. Then blast the baby with the shower head. High pressure works best. Both of you will come out sparkly clean. LOL LOL Alex PS. And get to bed ,its late Ed. ------------------ |

HEAD & SHOULDERS????? Haven't you guys been paying attention, I am BALD. Head and Shoulders is a fine P & G product, headquartered here in Cincy and a lot of people need the stock to rebound so buy Head and Shoulders and help my grandkids portfolios. |

This Virus is spreading faster than an Idaho Wildfire! Don't open the attachment and make sure you have a virus scan on your computer. This is not POA related. Good Luck! Eric Lee |
