The chrome on the inside of the rear wheels is starting to get pit marks after only 6000 miles. The service manager at the dealership said he had never heard of any problems and this was "normal" wear & tear. Has this occurred with anyone else and did Chrysler do anything anything about it? Also, when waxing my kat for the first time I noticed a small (1/2") long crack in the passenger side rear fender. I am afraid the fiberglass will continue to crack more. Does anyone have a suggestion other than replacement? Thanks Marty Usher ------------------ |

Marty, welcome to the world of prowler wheels... THEY will replace them tell your service manager lots of us are getting them replaced or have allready. I have had both fronts replaced once and now all 4 are being replaced. I don't have the cracking fender yet or hope never so not up on that there was a board on that subject awhile ago. It must be our Canadian cats are built stronger than the US ones because of our cold weather up here. Good luck PK |

Marty- Welcome to the POA/ProwlerOnline. There is a Tech bulletin on the wheels. All he needs to do is call the DC tech line and they will inform him if he didn't read it. Not a problem. I have had all 4 replaced under warranty and they are going to do 2 of them again. Good Luck! ------------------ |

Marty - I believe others have reported the small crack on the rear fender, and have been taken care of by DC. Press the issue! Also, welcome to the POA! |

Hey now, I had both my rims and fender replaced under warranty for the same problems. The fender, mine was on the driver side, had a crack comming off the tail light corner..........District rep had to approve both but they did and the paint even matched perfictly after 2 trys. The first was PPG paint, didn't match so they went with SW and it looks great................ ------------------ This message has been edited by FatManInTheBathTub on 07-18-2001 at 10:48 AM |

I was about to post this same problem. called the dealer (the same dealer that "doesn't know what happened to our CD" that the prowlers came with) this week and was told to bring the car by and they would look at the wheels, if car still under warranty, would replace them. As far as i know the dealership does not have the equipment to mount the new wheels. had a flat about a year ago, goodyear store could not fix it, they are not certified to change a 20 inch wheel, was referred by them to another shop, now that shop is out of business. (will figure that step out when the time arrives.) also does anyone know about the technician from DC that goes to different dealerships to talk about the prowlers? seems likes there was a meeting scheduled shortly after we bought our car, but the session was cancelled. ------------------ |

Ma- The best shop we have found is Discount Tire Co.. Our 5* dealer uses them on a contract basis and they do excellent work. ------------------ |

Im glad i dont have the cracking fibergalss after 9000 miles of use of my kat but i am having my front right rim replaced. It was pitting on the inside and i did not need approval from anyone. I told them i wanted it replaced and they did it. Also, the parts guy told me i could keep my old rim as a spare. As for the 20" rims i dont know but i got my 17" rim in one day and amazingly found out that the rim is made by american racing. You would think that they would recall all rims and have a fresh batch made up that is higher quality to replace them since sooo many are being taken back for pitting. I think the best thing to do is always wash the insides and try to put on a coat of carnuba wax to protect the chrome. ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid |

Marty, I had both problems you have. The inside of my rear wheel is flaking and pitting, and my passenger side rear fender had a crack along the lip of the fender, starting at the lip and continuing down the lip of the fender for about 1/2" and progress to 1". The dealer ordered a new wheel no problem. I wanted to have the fender replaced but they wouldn't go for it. However, I managed to have them agree to giving me a warranty on repairing the fender for as long as I own the vehicle. I just got the car back today from the fender repair and they did an excellent job and I can't even tell there was a repair made, the car is black if it matters. As far as the wheel goes, it's been over a month and I'm still waiting . . . |

OK, some of you people are making me angry (jealous). My local dealership has successfully stalled their way to the end of my warranty period. They didn't fix the leaky roof/window seals, would NOT replace the rear rim w/ chipping chrome (which is only 1 year old, but not original equipment on the car), and would NOT let me keep any of the other parts that were replaced under warranty (meaning the old parts - they wouldn't even let me buy them back). I've been asking for a meeting with the regional DC Rep for almost 3 month's now, and the Service Manager still will NOT talk to me. And to top it all off, this is the place were I bought the car for $52K (now over 3 yrs ago), and they can't even change a tire or do a wheel alignment because they NEVER went out and bought the tooling that they were required to do (5-Star) in order to sell the car in the 1st place. Oh, but they do have a trained mechanic that broke 2 wheel centers & chipped all 4 of them by removing the centers for the very 1st time. And they will only replace the 2 that were physically broken, not the other 2. Plus, this recommended dealership in Louisiana reneged on selling me an extended warranty (at a reduced price) and took 2 months to return my money, which is forcing me to spend more money somewhere else because now my original warranty has expired. This is the majority of the reason why I absolutely hate DC dealerships and will probably never by another Mopar product again - and I've owned Mopars since the middle 70's when I got my driver's license. HELP !!! ------------------ This message has been edited by SPCL-T on 07-19-2001 at 05:33 AM |

SPCL-T, HAVE YOU ONLY WENT TO THAT 5* DEALERSHIP, I WOULDN'T GO TO WHERE I BOUGHT MINE BECAUSE THEY NAILED ME 10K OVER STICKER. HAVE HAD GREAT LUCK WITH THIS OTHER ONE SO FAR, SOMETIME THEY BEND OVER BACKWARDS FOR YOU SOMEWHERE ELSE. WORKED FOR ME SO FAR JUST A THOUGHT HERE. REMEMBER (NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER SURRENDER) WRITE LETTERS TO THE BIG BOYS TELL THEM WHAT YOU READ HERE. I'VE PUT MY DEALER ONTO THIS SITE FOR HIM TO FOLLOW WHAT'S HAPPENING FROM TIME TO TIME. GOOD LUCK PK |

They are always mailing out dealer surveys. There should be a place where you can go to file a greivance against a specific dealer. ------------------ |

Actually, two years ago, I was talking to a dealership in Holland (Michigan) area, and was told that a dealership can set a flag on the sale of any vehicle. This flag will stop all Survey's from being sent to the purchaser. Something about being a fleet account or something like that. I don't know if this is fact or not, but I didn't get a Survey sent to me until I talked to this gentleman, which was over a year after I bought the car. Coincidence? I filled out this Survey, complaining about this dealership in Maine, but to no avail. I know I sound like I'm whining, but this is only a portion of my experience w/ DC sales. Lately, their lack of efforts have continued to burst my bubble of enthusiasm for Mopar. And yet, there is still no answer from my efforts; hence my plea for HELP! Even the guidance of the English language (text) would help. I think it is time for a major NASTY GRAM. Todd, even you told me that my local DC place was full of Do-Do with a body rubbing issue. I'm still trying to post pictures of the panels that I had to pay to have fixed. ------------------ |
