Hey everyone,
I just installed the front mud flaps on the Prowler (due to good advice from some of you) and they look great. I did not trim them as I don't drive the cat every day and I usually dont go over very many obstacle. I'm hoping I don't have trouble with them as some of you have warned without the trim. My question now involves the front bra. I bought one months ago but I have been reluctant to put it on. Has anyone had any trouble with the bra's damaging the paint? I know not to get it wet, but I have had cars in the past which had front bras that rubbed the paint. I don't want this to happen to my new baby. My wife has joked that we no longer have a garage, but that we have a new nursery instead. I also want to think everyone for their kind posts to welcome my to the POA site. Thanks for the info, Doc-Man

I used the bra twice for two 250 mile road trips on the highway and had no trouble with the paint getting scratched. Also, I want to give you one piece of advice for installing the bra. The directions say to punch a hole in the hood liner in order to attach the hooks to the hood. I didn't want to put a hole in the liner, so I attempted to lift the pad from the hood and slip the hook in. I ended up accidentally tearing the liner instead. Now I wish I had just poked the holes in it instead.

Just dont let the bra dry on your car if it gets wet. and dont leave it on the car when not in use and you should be fine........,,

I just put about 2200 miles on my Woodward out to Crazy Horse and back with no problems with the bra on. As far as the hood liner goes, get a tool to remove the necessary retainer buttons and then you can get under the liner to fasten the bra straps with out damaging it. I haven't even rienstalled them yet and the liner stays up in good shape.

I went the clear bra route through http://www.clearbraconnection.com/
really happy with the work they did. CJ's husband Bob, who works at DC saw it and commented what a fine job they did. No worries about scracting and best of all you can hardly see it. Install was $845.00.

Doc - I use my bra on all my long cruises and trips. Just finished the 3,000 mile Crazy Horse Tour with it on. It was rained on and washed, left it on during the drying time, and no problems. Cat sides and panels look like new yet - good investment for long trips. On the hood straps to the very back part of hood, I took a Bic pen and poked a small hole where the hook will go - you can't even see the hole and it works just fine that way. After putting on and removing a few times, you will get the system down, and it will only take afew minutes to do - I do the under side panel clips last. Your wife sounds like a great lady, calling the former garage a new nursery I like her already!!

Alex - where have you been??? Get the scoop from Marc yet?

Doc Man.

I've had the bra on all the time for over 11,500 miles & two years. No Problem with paint. I've used the other tips posted 1) bic pen to punch hole for top clips 2) always take off & let dry off the car if it gets wet. It's alright to drive with it on if you get caught in a rain storm while cruising.

Here's another - use Pledge on outside of bra to give a little shine & protection. It does become easier to take on & off after you do it a few times...

Yes Larry, I did talk with Marc yesterday and learned of his troubles. He was just getting ready to fly out to go get his Kat when we spoke.

I must be out of practice

Then again, women are much more adept at such matters,,

Letting the bra dry off the car after getting wet is following manufacturers suggestion !

(posible problem with clouding the paint if left on)

Alex how much of your car is covered?? i like it.

I drove to Woodward and back from Atlanta with a side trip thrown in. No damage to the paint. However I just had new pin striping put on my Cat and now I am concerned about the bra damaging the pin stripe on the way to Woodward. The ideal thing would be to have my Cat clear coated again over the pin strip but that can't happen before Woodward.

JD - you are right about the manufactuer's suggestion about taking off when wet, and not letting it dry on car. But I, like Laddie have been caught in rain on the road and even washed the cat at Estes Park (thanks CJ and Bob), and didn't have the time to remove the bra and replace it back on. I'm just stating that there has been no damage to clear coat, paint, or my pin stripping. I do have several coats of wax on it, maybe that helps?

CJ, thanks for clearing up that statement

JD, The 3m clear film comes in 18" widths. I have the front of the hood covered back a full 18", the chin is covered, the two front fenders are covered almost to the mud flaps, the rocker panels are covered to the bottom of the doorand forward at that level to the A arms. The mirrors are covered, the rear fenders on the outside of the black plastic is covered, the door handles where you stick your hands in are covered. I am going to have him cover the inside where the door closes on the body, Bob said it would be a good idea because that area always starts to wear. Clear Bra came to my house and did the install in my garage. It took him about 6 hours.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all of the replies. I have installed the bra as many of you have suggested. I have not put the hood cover on yet but I will when I get up the courage to poke those holes in the hoodliner. I'm thinking about adding an extension to the last two hooks and trying to hook them to the existing holes near the rear of the hood to avoid messing with the hoodliner. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks, Kevin

No wrinkles, no yellowing, I am very happy. The front fenders are the hardest to install due to the compound curve. Scott from Clear Bra worked it and really got it where you have to look hard to see it. It covers to about 3" from the bottom of the fender. If you get someone good to do the install you will be very happy.
