Just got my new front and back tires from Tirerack ($973 - including shipping) but won't be putting them on for a while (26,000 miles on the odometer) Wondering how many more miles I can expect out of the original tires, and to you guys that have replaced them, did you put new batteries in the sensors?

I had about 33,000 miles on my rears when I replaced them last year. I have almost 36,000 miles now and the original front tires look like they are good for another 8,000-10,000 miles. I did not replace the battery in the sensors when I replaced the rears.

I replaced all four at 37,000 miles with Dunlops. The original tires would have gone another 10,000 on rear and maybe 15,000 on front. Like Bill - I did not change the batteries on the sensors.

I hope somebody comes up with a better idea - per manual, 2000 Prowler, page 22-6:

"The tire pressure sensor/transmitter is powered by an internal three volt battery. The battery is not replaceable separately. In the event of battery failure, the entire tire pressure sensor/transmitter at that wheel will require replacement."
