Got a few questions about car alarms. I know I need to get one with the peremiter senser, so if someone reches in, it goes off, but I also have priced the add on for an alarm that pages you when it goes off. I figure an alarm going off does me no good if I don't know it's going off. Even though I seldom plan to leave my Cat parked anywhere, sometimes you can't help it, and the extra piece of mind would be nice. Anybody add an additional alarm to there Cat? If so, what kind? and where did you have it done(I'd hate some young punk to be ripping into the dash not knowing what he's doing.) I found a couple that come with a pager, one was an Alpine(which I heard didn't work very well) The other was a brand I'd never heard before that went through a special paging system(it must have been better than the Alpine cause it was double the price $1000.00) Any info you might have would be greatly appreciated. ------------------ |

Thanks CJ for posting the link to the thread. The second link goes to the Alpine sensor alarm I put in my car. I don't have the paging option because I got Teletrac (which I have since learned is very regional - not U.S. wide but does cover where I drive) and it activates that. If my car is moved they call me to find out if it is authorized. I also don't have the external Perimeter alarm - I didn't want it going off as I walked around the car in the garage - just the sensor if they reach in. I have noticed that it gets very sensitive sometimes - a bird will fly over and it will go off - I have to have it adjusted down some. It also goes off if the garage door goes up or down - good house alarm too I guess. I had my alarm installed at a specialist (they do high end cars) that was recommended by Dan Remington here on the board. Maybe someone in Washington has a good referral? ------------------ |

Check it out, this is an outdated picture, it even includes up to a 1/4 mile of paging distance. There is a new remote available, smaller and has a backlight included. Ask JustJP for his opinion, he has one.  ------------------ |
