The key has a small cat on it. It cost like $5 and you can get it at the dealer. search the archives for the topic...someone posted the part # about 3 months back.

Eric, p/n is 05066339AA.

Once you get key give them your Prowler vin# & they will cut key to fit your prowler....

Key with a Kat on it is somewhat new, 2000 or 2001? I just got one from my dealer, but my '99 did not originally come with that style ... mine featured the Chrysler-Plymouth symbol instead. Just an FYI on the difference ...

This is why I have a problem with the "Prowler Owner's Registry" .http://www.prowleronline.com/ownreg/listprowler.php. If I want a free Prowler all I have to do is look up my closest Prowler by City. Then copy down the VIN #, then drive it off with a key made from the VIN #.

This is why I haven't put my VIN # on this site. Where am I wrong?

Jim,

The Vin number is in plain sight right on your dash for any potential car thief to see. If your theory was true, a crook could get the vin number off your car while it is parked in your driveway, then run down to a Chrysler dealer, get a key made and drive off with your car!

I'm not sure security measures are in place when getting a new key made (without copying the original), but maybe someone here can shed some light on this subject.

Mike ... I see Jim's point as well as your own. The thing you both are forgetting, a true "car thief" doesn't need or use a key to steal a car, so really, the point is moot. But Mike, you do raise a good question about security being 'in place' when getting a new key ordered and cut at the dealership. I would think an eyebrow might be raised if you are someone off the street ordering a Prowler key ... then again, maybe they could care less and a parts sale is a parts sale!
