Want to protect my Kat when I take it outside..so contemplating getting the "Noah" from the California Car Cover Co. It is virtually waterproof (3 layers) yet has soft lining.

So....if I take the Kat to work, and want to protect it from the Florida sun...is it better to cover or not. (afraid cover may scratch paint)

Your opinions please.....

JOE,

Any fine scratches that might be happen will be very simple to remove.

Cover your baby up.

Would you lay out in the sun all day with no protection?

Joe,

I used a Noah cover for my TransAm for about a year. The Prowler took over the garage and the TA sat outside for about a year, including the winter months. The cover repels light rain and provided great sun protection. But, in a downpour, the car still gets soaked, although the cover truly is breathable and dries quickly provided it is not very humid. In the wind however, the cover was horrible, Even when I had it tied down in the middle with the provided tie down holes, the front and back of the cover would blow off. This also caused some scratches in the paint, though I was able to buff them out. The reason it caused scratches was because the stitching they use, the cover itself did not scratch, but the moving back and forth of the stiching due to the wind scratched the paint. After one year, the cover had a few holes in it and was faded. California Car Covers has a warranty (lifetime I think) and they replaced the cover free of charge. My advice would be to use the cover when it is not windy, light breezes are OK, but wind gusts will probably pull the cover off. I definetely would not use it in the rain if you plan on driving it shortly after. Lastly, the MOPAR cover seems to be made of similiar material and should provide good protection from the sun.

Thanks guys...

Gary, my thoughts exactly why I should get a cover for the Kat. Daryl, thanks for the insight to that Noah cover.

Thanks again.

Thru the years I saw several people transport cars on an open trailer w/covers in place...the covers will actually buff the paint off the edges or corners of the car....outdoors, leave it uncovered...the wind will move the cover all day long and "buff" the paint...the sun, well you could always move to Indiana

When the Kat comes to work, very rare, it parks under the trees. The birds seem to love it. I act like Yosemite Sam when I see the droppings on my Kat.

Hence, need a cover, but afraid of paint scratching.
I have several coats of wax on the Kat....the droppings don't stick too bad to the paint...it is the NEW cloth top that bothers me.

I park under the trees to avoid the intense Florida sun and the idiots who park too close to the Kat. Figure bird dropping are OK as compared to door dings.

Hmmm....still not sure if I should cover the kat.
