CJ or whom it may concern, Who is the one who picks the new Prowler Colors? That new 2002 Prowler color Mustard with the Chrome wheels looks awful. Why can't the Prowler get colors like Cuda Lime Green or Candy apple red? Do they ask any consumers or Prowler owner on feedback? ------------------ |

Brian, DaimlerChrysler has a Design Team that chooses the colors for all of DC's vehicles. The new color is Inca Gold (not mustard)! Quite some time ago, I posted a topic and asked for input from the Prowler Owners as to what colors they would like to see. We printed it and passed it on. ------------------ |

spoons The problem is that to many "old farts" making the final color decision. They need new "young" blood for a major change. ------------------ |

Bob works with the design team on a regular basis for the platform he manages. He said he would be happy to pass along the "old fart" comment to them! He says they range in age from middle 20's to early 50's. Now, the younger people may not understand the hot rod concept the way we "old farts" do, but the "old farts" certainly would. They also work with color all the time, working with companies who specialize in marketing color trends, such as the Color Guild and The Color Marketing Group. ------------------ |

I understand how they check with marketing firms to get info, BUT the real way to find out what people like is to go to the cruise in and car shows for color. until I see the gold in person I will have to be reserved in comment on it. ------------------ |

That mustard is the worst looking paint I have ever seen any where any time on anything(except a ham and cheese)! I think it signals the end of the Kat. But hey, a silver lining. If they stop making em, our stock just went up. But, you will have to deal with your friends who see the thing and ask you what the hell was that, something like: "Hey, I just saw this thing, it was kinda like your Prowler, but it was the color of dejon mustard, MAN WAS IT UGLY, are you sure the people who designed your car are not hooked on crack or something?!!!" I know its comming and I guess we need to be ready cause man that DEJON is just not happening. p.s. no offence C.J., but if DC paid someone to do research on colors and if they also hired additional consultants to do market research, could you hook me up with them because I have great deal on some acreage here in Houston. It floods once in a while, but good dirt anyway! GOD I HATE THAT DEJON! |

quote: I wouldn't bet on that stock spike just yet even if they stopped making them tomorrow. Name one car that when the stopped making em they rose in value that day(or year for that matter)? Edsel? Germlin? ------------------ Mods: 2001 Speed Yellow Porsche Cabriolet |

actually, if this "gold" causes the Prowler's demise, people will remember the last color they hated, not any good color's before. IF they even remember the car at all. Think of it this way... ask a girl if she wants a ride on a Harley, pick a girl, ANY girl, and they ALL know what your talking about, even if they say know. Ask a girl if she wants a ride in a Prowler, and almost NONE know what your talking about. When the public is unaware of a products existance, they are not going to have any interest in it. Only a small segment of the population reads car magazines routinely, and most of them are male. ------------------ |

I have had many Harleys and never needed them for chicks. I have a Prowler and I still do not need it for chicks. Bottom line DEJON MUSTARD SUCKS. And btw, I did not mean that the value would rise over night. I just know that when it is all said and done the Kat will appreciate. |

Chrome, I think you missed the gist of Todd's post. I like Dejon, especially with Honey as a dressing. BTW, anyone ever use spell-check? ------------------ |

OH NO - CJ just gave a hint for the next color! Grey PoopOn. I don't think the spell check will work when the word used is the wrong one but it is still a word ------------------ |

Mustard by any name is still butt ugly, p.s. I got Todds post no problem here. Gold, Mustard what were they thinking. It is ugly, ugly, ugly. I know some people may like it and hey to each his own. But I wish they would have chosen a color not just all the colors ever made mixed in a big pot and poured over the Kat like yesterdays hot dog! |

Along these lines, I would like at one of the events, when there will be a lot of people ogling the cars, to have a legitimite "contest" where the general public would secretly vote on which stock color Prowler they liked best. Owners would not be allowed to vote. I think it would be very interesting to have an unscientific poll taken where there would be a lot of voters. Only have stock Prowlers, no painted bumpers, No Wildcat, no chrome illusion. I concede that they would win if they were in the contest. How about at Woodward? |

Yes, that could be interesting....will consider that!!! Do you think that will settle the argument, though, Ed? What if red doesn't win?? ------------------ |

I'm looking forward to getting my first glimpse of the new gold Prowler in person. From what I've seen in pictures, I like it. It should really pick up the metallic when in the sunshine. I like the contrast of the gold car with the black top. |

The Plochmans "gold" would have looked better if it was metallic gold. CJ, I think the old fart design team was popping a few pills that the team members stored from the '60's to come up with this hue of Plochmans. I like the container though. ------------------ |

My last name isn't Gore. No recounts. I don't care if Red comes in dead last, I ain't selling. They all look good to me, I still haven't seen an ugly Prowler. I just think it would be interesting and it would give one color some bragging rights, like they don't all crow theirs is the best, now. lol. It would be like the fastest or quickest Prowler, somebody will still not be satisfied. You could represent black, mine isn't stock due to the grill and bumpers so I am DQ'd. Is anyone else interested? |

I have posted this before and I will again here. DC is saving the Red on the PT cruiser to apply to the Prowler for the last run. The best is yet to come. I am a red color fan and that red would put the iceing on the cake. Watch and see. It is the only color that would make me trade my 99 red. My two cent worth again. |

Good idea Ed (best color) . Maybe a poll should be done at all the events and announced at the end of the year to get a better cross section of voter opinion. ------------------ |
