Just wondering if any stock Prowler has raced the 300M ? How did it do? Does the weight ratio really slow the "M" down? Also has any stock Prowler or 300M added the Bosch Platinum+4 Spark Plugs, #4428 and felt a noticable difference? Thanks...jc ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

Not only is the 300M heavier, the intake manifold and throttle body are different. The computer mapping is very different, including significant torque management at the shifts, which changes the characteristics of the engine. DC has changed intakes and throttle bodies on several 300Ms and used the Prowler engine and trans controller logic. Performance improves dramatically on the 300M. Some individuals have complained about WOT shift quality. Lots of fun. There is an article in the January, 2000 issue of Motor Trend on the performance of one of these cars. There is a brand new spark plug available from Denso, called Iridium, which works in extreme conditions (super-charged/nitrous) that DC has been trying. They are just starting to become available on the market at about $15/piece. RPL tried them on his hot rod, super-charged Cherokee and has yet to lose one. The last trip in, they had to replace three platinum plugs. Burned the electrodes off! Before you say it.......we know that we have mixture problems and detonation. Don't want to spend any time sorting out the issues. Simply a toy! Read about the Denso Iridium plugs here: http://www.machv.com/denirsparplu.html ------------------ This message has been edited by CJ on 04-08-2001 at 08:35 AM |

Thank you CJ, Great information! I am sure some of the hi-pro cat owners well be clamouring for the new Iridium Plugs. I would be happy just to find my plugs under the hood! If you haven't looked for them before, check it out. I borrowed a service manual and it looks like they each have an individual coil attached to them, and that they are installed through the top of the intake manifold. The book mentions "spark plug tubes" that should be replaced also. Do the tubes need to be replaced with every plug change? I only have 5,000 miles and the stock plugs are good for 100,000 miles by the book. Any other small details I should know before I change my plugs? Than you again! PS. I love the morfing banner of you.... (-: ------------------ PROWLEN.... John (-: |

Prowlen, I can assure you my 300M doesn't stand a chance against my Prowler. ------------------ |
