Also looking at a "00 Red (vin 1P3EW65GOYB605065). Any know if this falls close to or in those with the frame recall? PS...still have '99 Yellow 8500 miles and getting cheaper by the day. regards- Brian ------------------ |

Frame recall was the red 99's. CJ can verify this? ------------------ |

Brian....mine was one of the first produced red 2000 models and was not part of recall....made a day after the end of recall period. My Vin # is lower than the one you asked about. Also, I believe that the "B" in your vin # should be a "V"(which is the symbol for the Conner Ave Factory). The dealer can run the vin # and tell right away if it is recalled. |

Pretty sure that is the case, but can verify if necessary. |

Brian; I have a lower vin# than yours and my Red 2000 was effected by the frame recall. Hope this helps. David Mills Fort Myers FL. |

What was involved in the frame recall, and how did they solve the problem? |

Mine was affected by the recall. You would set an appointment with a representative of Alcoa (manufacturer of our chassis) and they will come a mesure points in the welds. If it passes, you are on your way, if not then there are 3 choices: they pay your car (no warranty) they replace your car with a new one they trade your car for a Viper -50% of difference. All this was according to the rep that came to my house. So dont shoot the messenger ------------------ This message has been edited by Pirana on 01-28-2001 at 04:28 PM |

I bought mine as a used prowler with 400 miles on it. It was caught at the factory before it was sent out to the dealer that was suposed to get the car. DC bought the car, replaced the frame, then sold it as used to another DC dealer. Hope this helps. David Mills Fort Myers FL |
