Have any of you hard core Prowler guys (gals) taken your car out in the snow? If so, what was it like.

Had a silver 2000 last winter and I drove it nearly every day....did fine in ligkt snow and slush.....driving on ice was fun, would turn the tires over like a Viper.....just watch for excessive build up behind the front wheels, could break a fender or flap....the car handled like any other car....deeper snow, the big back tires made the car useless, couldnt get out of my driveway....was a fun experiment....put approx 1000 miles on that kat in snow/ice etc......after the cleanups the car was still flawless, it was running flaps....

Snow?????? Bob won't let me take it out in the rain, let alone snow.....

Y2K YELO - He most certainly would have had a heart attack if he had seen you do that!! Didn't the slush make it difficult to clean the underside??????

CJ...
That car(Silver Bullet) was initiated to bad weather from the start...I went to Wash DC to pick it up...was there a few days sight seeing...the day we left for Indiana it was 53 degrees and sunny...before the odometer had hit 100 miles we were in a huge snow storm in the mountains of Maryland...drove for hours in snow and slush....first gas stop, the car was completely covered with brown slush and pea gravel from the road....was difficult to even tell what color the car was....got thru that mess and finally into Ohio, only to hit a freak ice storm....when the car finally got home that nite it not only had slush and gravel frozen to it, but now was completely white(even the top) from road salt on the interstate...sure looked sad when I hit my home town car wash...sprayed it off and took it on home...it was flawless.....I found out the car really didn't get too dirty from the slush and snow during the winter...I just sprayed it off at the local car wash every day or so, and it looked fine.....sold it in the spring and it looked just like new...no wear and tear at all....I really just wanted to see what one would take weather wise....it got a passing grade from me...only problem was ice inside the car...when I washed it, there would be spray inside the car, it would tend to freeze sometimes when really cold...I drove it in the Indiana winter virtually everyday I could get it out of the garage and driveway....it sat outside on the street by my house during most of the winter....it couldn't get out of my driveway (uphill climb)when there was much snow, but I could always get away from the curb....only got stuck in the snow once, in my own driveway.......I sprayed up inside the front and rear fenders everytime I washed it....remarkable how little dirt got in the engine box etc....still looked new after 3,000 miles of winter use....bought it in Jan 2000, sold it in Apr 2000......had a lot of fun with that Kat !!!

Y2K YELO - Well, I guess that is an amazing tribute to an amazing car and testament to those car people who think Prowler can't hack it!!!

I will definitely show this to Bob - maybe he won't go ballastic next time it gets rained on (only twice in a year and a half)!!!!

Didn't people look at you like you were totally out of your mind for parking it and driving it in that kind of weather???

Thanks for the story!!!

Well, I drive my Prowler everyday. It's the only one, a car, I have. It's been in heavy rain, both being still & driven. Heavy wind, both from straight ahead & cross. It sits only under a covered parking and not in a garage. The Prowler does well. Tomorrow the temperature is to be 32 (high) for Austin, TX. We are to get some light snow, but a lot of sleet. Will let you know what happens. During one rain storm, there was a lot of thunder & lightning. My alarm system flipped out, but after a day it was fine. My mechanic didn't find any flaws in the computer system.

Y2K Yelo, I am in your debt. I've got about 8" of snow dumping down on me right now and I was thinking of how the Prowler might handle this storm. Now, I'll let your experience be sufficient to satisfy my curiousity. No, mine won't come out unless it's dry with the pavement bone dry. It doesn't bother me that there might be snow on the grass, but to drive it IN THE SNOW...why, that's shocking!

Until it dries outside, mine will be covered in my sister's heated condo garage. What a life of luxury for Winter hibernation! Thanks for sharing that Winter tale.

Starflame......I don't think ANYBODY loves my Prowler as much as I do...

I have spent years doing the corporate wife thing....going to/planning events, hangin' out with him at car shows, etc. etc. etc. Now that I have the Prowler and this group, he says it is time for role reversal!!!

CJ...
.......we are all aware of the "gawk factor" from driving these cars...I have found the factor multiplies when the car is used for daily transportation.....people expect to see these cars out on sunny days, but you ought to see jaws drop when you pull up at a light with snow all over the car...or at the local Shell station pulling in to get gas, and snowy crap dripping off this "show car"...really freaks people out....some of the best cruises were in the wee hours of the morning, cruising in the nasty weather, knowing it would clean up like new again...I really enjoyed driving the car daily....I have 2 Kats now(both yelo) and am seriously considering taking the one I drive daily and using it all winter....would like to just use it up....spent years with rare show cars in the garage that NEVER hit the streets...I got tired of owning a fleet of trailer queens and driving a 4dr sedan....sold them all over a period of a couple of years and have yet to miss them at all...when I want to visit them, I just look at the magazine covers they were on and it's like they never left home...I never drove them !!!...have had more fun in the last few years DRIVING my toys than I ever had LOOKING at them in the garage....I drove one of my Vipers quite a bit last winter also...main problem was traction....had a modified Viper RT/10 and it was very loose on cold pavement, worse on wet and nearly impossible on ice (yes, I tried it also)...I figure at my age, why not...I spent years owning, restoring and caring for some of the rarest MOPARS on the face of the earth....now it's my turn to drive them and let the next generation worry about restoring them....I figure in about 20 years there are going to be a lot of people cussing the guy that bought this car new and actually DROVE it...but I will be in the "home" by then just smiling from the memories I had with the various cars......the last 2 years my winter "beater" was a 95 purple Vette conv...but I sold it a couple of months ago, so watch out Y2K YELO, the snow is a comin' and I don't plan on walking

CJ,
you are so lucky to have the support of Bob to let you play with your toy and him sit and smile because he knows you are having such a good time.

I have seen Y2K YELLO's winter driver and he is right. It looks as good as the never driven silver cats.

It was bought by another Mopar collector with some of the rarest too. Yes, he knew it had been driven. He said he didn't want a Prowler before they hit the road but as time went by he got the bug that he might want one. The rest is history.

I do not drive mine in the snow, but it has seen the rain starting from day 1. On the way home from the dealer it rained on it.
I do believe as Y2K does that the car was made to be driven. Most people do not think I drive my car.

Yes, I have an enclosed trailer but it is for going to judged shows or a really long haul. I have driven it to Detroit 3 times, once before the graphics and twice since.

As far as cleaning. If you can get under the car it can be cleaned just like the top. I have bought some strange stuff to clean with, like the aquarium brush to clean above the gas tank.

DRIVE IT, HAVE FUN WITH IT and let the kids worry about restoring it back to showroom new. If no one ever drives theirs then how will we get PARTS CARS
