Honda is coming out with a new 1800 cc Goldwing and another 1800cc bike. They will be in Tuesday. They have a Red Illusion Paint job available. Jim Ross will want one of those. |

Ed, Yes, I have seen adds for the 1800, I want to see one up close. I really like the look of my 1200 over the 1500 because you can see the motor on mine. But the more I look the more I'm liking the 1500. Especially after the repair bill for the stator and the noise I still have in the motor. Hey, you buy one and I'll be over to see it. Larry |

Larry, check back Tuesday. I might have one. The 1500 has so much more power than the 1100 & 1200, it is hard to believe. I rode one once and bought one immediately. Mine will be 3 yrs old, Friday and I am not sure if I like the looks of the new 1800 Goldwing. It has an aluminum frame. They said they were receiving 36 bikes on Tue and would have the new Illusion Red. I want to see one in person, also. Sandy loves the new one so she wants to go see it Tue. I don't know about the new front end. I am definitely still on the fence about it. The 1800cc Nighthawk (or whatever it is,) will be unbelievably quick. I want to see that, also. I sure wish the independent shop would have fixed my Wing right so that I didn't have to take to the Honda dealership and therefore see the new one. Oh well, it's only money. |

Ed, everyone has told me DO NOT RIDE A 1500 unless you plan on buying one. I have several friends with them and they tell me go ahead and take it for a ride. So far I'm not ready to buy a newer one so I don't ride theirs. I have yet to see here in Indianapolis a dealer advertising having an 1800, only come in and order one. To me the speed isn't an issue. The 1200 is fast enough. The smoothness and handling are the key items on a road bike. The bike that I had that was fast and fun was a 350 3 cyl. 2 stroke Kaw. while I was in Hawaii. It didn't weigh anything and was extremely quick. If I want fast I don't want 1,000 LBS plus me to haul around. What dealer are you going to to look at this new bike. Larry |

Larry-gotta agree on the potential of the 2-stroke Kaw . I had a friend that let me ride his. It was a 750cc with the Werges reed kit and pipes. I couldn't get far enough forward on the tank to keep the front end down.! It was a hairy ride-not something that I would want to cruise on. ------------------ |

Wildcat, Gene's in Harrison, Oh, one block from Indiana. In fact, he built a new store in Ind but hasn't moved yet. About 20 minutes from Metamora. I picked up my bike today but it wasn't fixed again. They have to order a part. They are going to cover it under warranty. The speedometer box on the front wheel is bad. Eventually it will all be repaired, I guess. It was rather brisk riding home today. They will have the new ones tomorrow. I am going to go look at it. |

Larry, I didn't care for the red illusion paint job, at all. It turned orange or bronze. It was inside, however and may look better in natural light. The style is radically different. The seat is much lower, the dashboard is really nice. The back and front views are totally different. He quoted me $17,500. I doubt if I will buy one. I want to look at the blue when they get it. The other colors are yellow and black. I didn't see the new Shadow type 1800. I forget what they call it. |

ED Thanks for the info. The illusion paints always look better in natural light. But I don't care for many vehicles painted 100% in this type paint due to the hues it changes too. alot of the time it looks like army green/gold cast. My 2 cents I have it on my car but only in the purple and blue stripe. It is misted on the orange flames but just makes it sparkle not change colors. The $17,+ is that for an SE Larry |

Larry, they did away with the Aspencade or SE models. There is only one model. The only options beside paint is for ABS brakes. There is a built in CB so I guess it would be similar to the SE but I didn't see any two tone paint jobs so maybe it is closer to the Aspencade. I don't know. A friend told me today that the $17,500 price is the MSRP. The illusion paint is $400 more than the other 3 so I don't know if the MSRP is $400 more or less than that. I am going to go to the Honda site later to see what I can find out. I am very doubtful about buying one in the near future for myself. And I was given the same advice, don't ride a 1500 unless you intend to buy one. I rode one and bought one. I told my buddy the same thing. He rode mine and bought a 1999 new. He was relieved I am not buying an 1800. He was afraid he would want one if I got one. The yellow is pretty bright but you have a yellow cat so you might really like it. I haven't seen it in person yet. I want to see the blue one. |

They had a yellow goldwing in the `70's, with blue pinstripes. I thought about painting mine to match my car but too much work to remove all the lights and chrome so I will leave it silver & gray. Plus not sure how it would look that bright. I really liked the look of the white ones or the red 1500. Had mine out today for a short ride. Ah, spring will be here in about 4 months |
