or seen the installation of the 3M clear plastic sheeting for stone chip protection? How does it go around compound curves? Does it stretch? Do you install it from the center out to keep out air bubbles? Is the finish glossy, or semi-gloss? ------------------ |

Mark/Colo/99 had his car done, I believe. The 3M film can be worked with the aid of heat gun. What is your project? |

I made a set of lenses and aluminum boxes to go where the front bumpers were. Just covering the holes like the real-rod covers, but all lens. I have to secure the lens to the aluminum box-but dont want to screw thru the plastic. The bulbs screw in from the back-came from the front bumper settup. I got aerospace silicone to secure the lens, but want to ensure that it wont come off-EVER. So I want to wrap the lens and the sides of the box in the plastic. Whatcha think? ------------------ This message has been edited by butchcee on 11-09-2000 at 09:15 PM |

Thanks for the photos. I like them. Go to the Harley Shop and look at the front axle nut covers to cover the top a-arm bolts. They are nicely chromed and has a set screw already built in. thanks again for the private showing |

Al - Just seen the 3M film on a yellow Prowler today. Looks great, can hardly see it, and conforms to the body well. This cat had on nose, along under A-arms, down side of rocker panels to bottom of doors, and front half of fenders. Had to look real close to see seam line. Don't know cost of this installation, as this is a rental from Las Vegas now a rental in Scottsdale, Az. It has me really interested. ------------------ |

Al, Mike's car at GC had the 3M film on it. Almost couldn't tell it was on the Silver cat. Be careful around the edges when you wax or detail the car, the seam will need some slight extra detailing, as it will collect wax/cleaner residue. Not bad, but something to pay attention to. This stuff sounds interesting. Can you wax over the material and does it shine like the rest of the car after waxing? What are the chances that this material will yellow over time? |
