I reposted this for Larry. My Rand McNally says Rapid City is about 60 miles from the geographical center of the United States. Black Hills, Sturgis, Mt. Rushmore National Monument, Carhenge, Crazy Horse Monument, Jewel Caves, Deadwood (gambling), Lead (gold mine), Devils Tower National Monument, Chimney Rock National Monument, Mormon Trail, Oregon Trail, Badlands National Monument, Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, Pioneer Auto Museum and many Dude Ranches. Seems like we should be able to find something to keep us busy. Maybe early May or June. Mothers Day is May 13 and Memorial Day is May 28. My idea(Larry's) is to have the event run from a Monday night hospitality suite thru Thursday night. Sounds stupid but in this way most will only need to miss 5 days work. Almost all will have about 2.5 days drive to get there and another 2.5 to get home. Your opinions please!

Larry (or honorary spokesman GaryC), is it possible to tie this in with Woodward for those of you coming from the West? Sounds like an ideal location - maybe October? to take in some Fall colours. GaryC, I like your idea of Monday through Thursday/Friday. Fun Times during the week and driving/travel on the weekends. |

Larry and Gary - been there and done all of that a couple of times...... and it is a GREAT area to have a rally!!! Would love to see it again. Please don't make it around Dream Cruise, though, that wouldn't be possible for Carol and me with so much to do for DC. I wouldn't want to miss this one. I also have done this four or five times. You left out the town of Deadwood - Aces and eights for Wild Bill Hickok and Wall Drug. May weather may be like the poor weather we had at Flagstaff. How about Colorado - Denver trip the third week of June? Or Dallas/Ft.Worth, same time. March - Big beach party at Fallbrook. We can tear up your guest house and raise hell in the area. |

Colorado would be great, too (home is where my heart is), just try to keep wherever you decide as central as possible. |

In keep with the theme of National Parks and Monuments I think it's a great idea. Haven't been to the Black Hills in 20+ years. AZ Ghost Rider |

The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour 2001 starts in Detroit on 5/3 and ends on 5/12 in San Bernardino. Was planning on taking several Northern and Southern California folks along that expressed an interest this year. Before the PT would be only reasonable time to have the event, but weather might be an issue. Don't know why they moved the PT up a month next year. My 2 cents is I would like to see the event just before the Power Tour and head there afterwards. ------------------ |
