When you purchase your cat from the dealer there are alot of things you should have been told.
1.when closing the hood you should use a 6 to 8in drop.If you close the hood with your palm you will see dents starting to form after awhile.
2.Converible top . You should wipe the back of the car where the top lies down on as it with soft towel as it will have grit and start to wear on your paint. (I have already seen this happen)a line is starting to form in clear coat
3.well send more tips if there is a interest

Neal,

You are right. there is alot of things owners must experience for themselves because most dealers just sell the cars and know nothing about them.

As you talk to different owners you learn new things.

1st thing all new owners should do is read the manual. I learned several things in doing this, and let me tell you this was a 1st for me to read the owners manual

Make sure you tuck the top in the center before closing the deck lid to keep from damaging the top.

DO NOT RELEASE THE SEAT BACK WITH YOUR HEAD IN THE CAR you will be sorry. It will hit you right in the ear, hopefully no permanate damage

Does anyone want more or have anything to add?

Neal: thanks for the tips. Keep em coming !! As luck would have it, that's exactly how I close my hood. Had a palm dent problem once on the trunk deck of my 69 Camaro. Learned the hard way on that one.

Thanks Neal - This is also true for the rubber door seals. Keep the dirt off of them to avoid making a "rub line" in the clear coat. Also - don't forget the wiper blades. I little unseen dirt there will also scratch the glass.( I found this out)
