My Cat came with the "standard" grey rims. I really like the way the chrome wheels looks. Do you think it would be cheaper to just try and "chrome" my existing rims? Is this even possible?

I had the same dilemna. My '99 Purple had the powder coated wheels. After getting so many varying prices on the wheels from $1,800-$3,300 I decided to find a wheel dealer that would do a core exchange. He took my wheels and sent them to Cal for a new set of chromed wheels for $900 diiference and they in turn keep my wheels. I wasn't in need of the older ones so I felt it was a great deal for me.

DC says that the chrome rims are aluminum ones that have been chromed.....

Wildcat knows of a place out here in California that chromes them beautifully. Not cheap but way nicer than stock.

He checks postings everyday so he will more than likely post the needed information later today.

Hey GaryC, That is the guy that did my wheels. They are the only co. I found that would work on the prowler wheels. They did a GREAT job, and turned them around in less than a week.

FOR GREAT LOOKING CHROME WHEELS

WHEELS CONCEPTS
1103 LAWRANCE DR.
NEWBURY PARK, CA 91320

I think their # is (805) 376-2113

I went thru Discount tire and they dismounted, shipped, remounted with chrome weights. I requested 100 point show chrome on the face and rear of the wheel.

Total cost including shipping $1,255. for the 4 wheels and 2 hub caps for the trailer. There was an additional $75 for air freight included in that.

100 point show chrome is a quality rating for chrome plating. The big difference on stock chrome and mine is the finish on the rear of the wheel. Mine were polished on the back before plating.

I was told if Wheel Concepts had a set of Prowler wheels they would ship to store & they could install and send mine back to them. At the time they did mine they didn't have a set to send out already chromed.

Great info WildCat. Would you happen to have any pictures of your wheels? I would love to see them. Is removing the wheels difficult? I wouldn't mind putting the car on jacks for a month and shipping the wheels off to get them chromed, but I'm just curious about the air pressure sensor and how it connects from the rims to the car.

I would recommend going to a discount tire or a good wheel/tire place and let them remove the tires. My store even sored the car for me at their warehouse and we shipped the wheels overnight via a airline(Southwest) which was actually very reasonable and everything was back on installed in 4 days.
