FYI in case any of you are having password problems.

The following is a series of E-mails between Nowell Herman and myself this morning. Please start reading from the bottom up in order to get the right sequence. Also please note that I requested nothing other than a password to the members section of the PPC. I was trying to answer a question that a Prowler owner had asked me and since I hadn't been to the PPC site recently, I had no idea that my password was voided. What am I supposed to do now? Exclude any PPC members from my events?
I sure don't feel the need to help Nowell in any way.

This part was NOT part of my message to Nowell this morning. This is what I have to say to Nowell after thinking about this today.

Nowell,
From one "big guy" to another. Until today I really never realized how small you really are. This stuff shouldn't ALWAYS be about the money. Sorry I forgot the rules,,,you don't pay, you don't play. I always knew that rule applied to the advertisers but I had no idea that appied to the people who tried to help you also. Maybe I can trade my membership card (that I never received), my last 4 quarterly issues of Prowl magazine (that I never received), and my license plate frame (that I never received) in for a password?

I agree with some of what you say but does that mean you believe you should get a free membership to the PPC? I think you need to think again! Larry it is time you let go of the past and enjoy today, that is what I am doing!

What I mean is that,

I was the reason that you got most of your membership sign-ups in Southern California
I was the guy that spent many, many hours of my time and money to help you
I was the guy that got you set up with the deal for the business cards
I was the guy that wrote the requested article for your magazine that I will probably now never see
I was the guy that you promised to send a license plate frame for my to 8 months ago
I was the guy that came up with the top 10 questions T-shirt idea
Most importantly,,,I am the guy that is STILL making things happen in Southern California for YOUR members

Think again my friend,,I'll wait for my password

What are you talking about! Do you think because you were a PPC State Director that you should not have to renew like other members? What do you mean when you say..."This is the thanks I get for all of the work I've done for you and your club?"

It is time to renew your PPC membership, your membership to the Prowler club has ended.

Larry,

I also inquired about my inability to go to the members only section of the PPC today. I also got the same form e-mail that you received, however I must have gotten a real reprieve because mine expired in November of 99!

I wouldn't be too bummed out about it because I'm not sure that there are any real benefits to being a member. After all, most of the stuff behind the "members only closed door" is available for FREE here.

I don't think it would be fair to exclude any PPC members from your events. If they want to join in, let them. After all, the more the merrier!!! If there are costs involved with the events, let everyone share them equally.

I never joined PPC for several reasons. The benefits you received did not seem to be worth the cost of joining. I realize that I was excluded from certain things and that was my decision. I also knew I could join later if I so desired. It seemed to me that certain products were being pushed and they seemed to be way over priced. I am happy with the decision that I made. This site seems to be much friendlier and has the same information available. BUT we must keep in mind that if it wasn't for PPC we would have never all gotten hooked up so we owe the founders a thank you for that. I no longer post on that site. If everyone posts ONLY on this site, eventually this will become the dominant site for friendly, helpful people. If everyone continues to post on both sites, we will have duplication for quite awhile. Larry, I think everyone who reads the regular posts knows who was much more active and helpful. Thanks for all you have done directly and indirectly.

Alright we have a great bunch of guys and the PPC did initially bring us all together BUT whats with the PPC anyway? They say they are sorry for past stuff all the deleted messages and other bs that thats gone on even though they dont really mean it (not). It's allways a mistake or Johnny did it. Yea blame the guy thats gone! It's the money that drives them.

Now it seems that they are tying to copy this site. They say they have free speech, they copied the weather, they copied the registry, they added editing the messages, and now they are even trying to add new icons just like here. And Nowells Woody signature resembles the car icons here.

I say why pay the membership fees if they are not sincere. Yes they started it all but money and perks took over our interests. They even changed the date tonight on two of the topics in the prowler performance discussion topics to make them apear current.

I'm fed up with their Clinton like tactics and will not take it anymore or become a member. We dont need a shepard to lead us down the straight and narrow path. We're intelligent and we can decide that for ourselves!!

Now I said what I needed to say and wish Mike, webdude, Larry, Tony and other event coordinators and enthusiasts the best!

Maybe now I can get some sleep now that I've got all this off my chest!

Prowl On, ProwlerOnline and all the fine friends i meet here! This site is friendly but they are also the leaders! Be the leader not the follower! Thats what my dad always told me.

I received my e-mail last Tuesday telling me my membership expired in November of 1999. I see no problem with having a renewal of the membership, however I do object to Nowell's method of getting the "word" out. No advance notice was given, the passwords were just turned off. What happen to those members that are not computer literate? They don't use what Nowell considers to be the benefits of the members only section and probably don't even know about this. Since the formation of the PPC there has not been one single event scheduled in Pennsylvania by the State Coordinator. Why should I renew? There have been no benefits for me other than information. Membership card? After two years I never I received one. Prowl magazine....big deal! No renewal from this former member....that's for sure!

Gentlemen: These posts describe only a small fraction, real small fraction, of continued actions by the PPC that would turn anyone "OFF". You all have witnessed or experienced these things, with the exception perhaps of the brand new Prowler owners. None of this is a secret.

In the real world, no one runs a business like they do--and lasts. We don't need to bring it all back up again but neither does anyone have to renew. Speaking from a personal standpoint, I don't understand why anyone would want a password or want to renew. Enough is enough.

In the future, PROWLER OWNERS ASSOCIATION, and PROWLER ONLINE, is where it ALL will be for Prowler enthusiasts-- in fact already is.

$39 is not a lot of money in this day and age but in the case of the PPC renewal, a guy would get a lot more satisfaction out of using two $20 bills to light up a good cigar.

How ever could I remain silent on THIS one, right Larry and Mike?

I kept wondering "why could I continue to access the PPC members only section" when I was the first (and only?) so-called member to ever be actually banned from my beloved posting privledges because of my frank, direct and honest oppinons. Yes, believe it or not they, over there at Nowell's club for suck-ups, actually treat people like infants. Oh, and they want to charge for that treatment too -- kinda like a bad day care facility.

Anyway ... PROWL magazine ... HA ! Sounds like a broken record ... "re-up for membership and in just three short weeks you will get the first issue of this highly over-rated, self glorification rag". We, who have been around since the PPC (formerly PCA ... and sold to Nowell a long while back) got started, have been hearing about this thing, blessed with some KISS cat on the cover that Nowell no longer owns, for a long, looooong time. Maybe the 3 week delay is due to the reprinting of the magazine to feature a Woodward now instead of the afformentioned vehicle. Dunno. Don't care ... but for what you get for $35.00 ... better off filling your cat up with gas twice, buying some wax or hell ... i like the lighting a cigar idea from one of the posts above.

Ok ... I'm done ... glad I learned to be more subtle, huh Mike and Larry?

Well, as I said when this site first opened, I was unhappy and seeing this website was the icing on the cake to my leaving. You all know the routine, nothing that was supposed to come came and the member section really has nothing. I also talked to some guys who advsided me not to join clubs. Case in point. Syracuse Nationals were just here, tons of cars, 3 days. I could enter or even enter at a discount as a PPC member, but then you have to volunteer. Direct traffic, etc. Sorry, but I pay admission, pay to be in a club AND volunteer. No thanks. Not being a member allows me to enter a car without the hassles. Go figure. I opt to drive my car and have fun without the BS involved being a member of anything

I also know since I made my living designing websites, that its very hard to make any money with a site dedicated to a car like the Prowler. The only way to do it and do it right is what I see here. Do it without profit as motivation and let the members get involved. Actually, I got into web design for fun and my major paycheck now comes from a website I started as a hobby site. Anything else would be a job

To all our brothers and sisters who have or could post a bookfull of stories about the PPC - WELCOME to the BEST - Prowler Owners Association Online. I also could write a true story on my ordeal with "The Club", but Ray just about said it all for me. My concern now is the lost souls (new owners) out there who haven't found us yet. All of us need to get the word out about our new home, and not just about the discussion board. More of us need to read and get involved with the EVENTS section of our site. This is the paved road for us to meet, cruise, and learn to know each other better. There is a wealth of new friendships out there to be made with one another, and life is just too short (Scotty). I encourage you to spread the word. Larry Salzman

I think the best way to voice your opinions would be to avoid visiting and not posting to the other site. If the site receives no traffic and no visitors, then what usefulness does it have... ? No better wake up call than to realize that you have lost your audience.

Besides, I think the two forums should be combined or merged into one. There are not enough unique responses on both to warrant two forums. The duplicate posting to both sites has become humerous (especially when there are duplicate replies...). My suggestion is for either the two sites to fight it out until only one remains, or for the owners of both sites to possibly consider merging the two sites together.

Just my two cents.

(Please do not steal this icon from me, like the throwing up smiley face was. Thank you.)

Nowell read my post here and left me a nasty msg today. He told me to double check my card and that my order was cancelled, so I will double check in the morning. He said I have not been charged because they are back ordered, well I will check in the morning and post an update, and at that time if I need to re-post my statement than that is what I will do.

All I want are some freakin mud flaps.

Still like this site Mike.

Devil: I agree with your position on not visiting or posting on the other site. But, merge the two sites? I thought the whole idea of this site was to avoid the constraints of the PPC? Merging would create a whole new set of problems.... If you don't want to use the other site, that's fine, but I for one have no interest in getting back to the same thing by any kind of merger.

2K B -- You have my sympathy because those that have been around awhile, know not to purchase anything from the PPC. Stories like your mud flaps are around by the hundreds.

It's called: "take the money quick...then let the poor guy wait forever". It's just like right now. Look at the promises of a membership card and four more issues of PROWL if you will surrender $39, first. Does anyone out there actually BELIEVE THIS? I really don't think so. And I don't think there are many out there that plan to come back for MORE. More abuse.

You can get your mud flaps in literally 24 hours from any Chrysler dealer. And I suggest that you do so. The reason is that these nice little roadsters we drive, are rock throwers. How are you going to feel with a bunch of rock chips on the side of your new Prowler that took place while you were waiting for months to get your mud flaps from the PPC that you paid for months earlier???

Write the PPC mud flaps off as a learning experience and bag it.

I would heartily recommend that anyone that hasn't received what they ordered (this includes membership kits) contact their credit card company and file a dispute ASAP.
This was the ONLY way that I was extremely successful in getting results for some of the members that I represented.
The "Big Guy" got real pissed when I told people to do this, but it usually brought results. A hit them in the pocketbook approach always seems to get attention.

Larry: You are right again. Hitting them in their wallet, in time, will tell the true story. I also have refused to post anything on their site, but see many new lost souls over there with questions I would like to answer, but will not. I have taken my stand on this matter and won't give in now. I requested a refund of my membership fees as a unsatisfied member, and now have that amount refunded to me. I sincerely hope that new owners will find us, so as to answer their questions if possible. The POA (even with Gary C.-LOL), is for me! Larry Salzman, Az POA

Original membership form said $69-sent in. Noticed website said $59. E-mail #1 =overpaid $10. return e-mail= NO, you paid the correct amount. E-mail #2 = How's that figure? return e-mail=YOU get extra free stuff (sucker). Wait 45 days for nothing! E-mail #3= unsatisfied member, want refund of my fees paid. return e-mail=WAIT, reconsider, just mailed out all your free stuff yesterday!!!! (Don't have STUPID written on my forehead--sorry Gary C.) E-mail #4 = NO, my decision is final! return e-mail = OK, check will be mailed. Check does come = $59, short $10 now. E-mail #5 = Shorted $10??? NO REPLY! Late saturday 8-5-00, got check for $10 and letter from Martha (aka Johnnie T) the bookkeeper ( ? ), saying it was all her fault. I think they have four more positions open there for people who want to say it is all their fault for the problems they are having. End of PPC story and start of a NEW LIFE with the POA! By the way, the BOX of FREE STUFF mailed the day BEFORE asking for a refund, DIDN'T SHOW UP. Does that tell you anything?????????

I'd say that some of you are more fortunate that others. Here's why:

1. You put your charges on your VISA card so you can now call your bank and do a charge back.

2. You at least got a password in the first place--even if it was recently, jerked.

In my case, I paid $69 by check. My check was cashed right away. This was over one year ago. I was never EVER given a password. And, at the time, I thought this was where the benefit was supposed to be. I figured my chances of getting any money back from my cashed check, were between slim and none.

And then, just to put a little salt in, I was at my dealer and picked up a magazine that is distributed by the Chrysler Corporation to all the dealers. The name of the magazine is "CHRYSLER/PLYMOUTH NEWS - WINTER 2000"

I read this magazine with interest because it featured the Official Plymouth Prowler Club. And the following is in quotation marks because I have this article before me as I type:

"There is no membership fee, nor any dues--although a Member Souvenir Kit is available at $69.95"

Later, I got an email from a new member who told me that he got a free membership in the club by quoting this magazine article.

HOW NICE !!

Coupled with everything else you know, does anyone really think the reporter from the Chrysler Magazine department, could get the facts this backward concerning the free membership and no annual dues.

And to think "the Big Guy" wants more money from unsuspecting fools ... here is the email I sent the PPC pres. and the subsequent reply I recieved from him today. Little does he know I have a GREAT life, and it includes the POA and NOT the floundering and sinking PPC .... My Prowling will ALWAYS be happy because I have seen the light and crossed over FROM the dark side to ProwlerOnLine.

Nowell:

You have got to be kidding ... pay, pay for what? PROWL magazine ... yeah
right .. Two weeks ... been 2 years ... not sure you know the difference.
And now you are just copying everything that Krehel is doing on his AWESOME
website ... NO originality at the PPC, NO free speech at the PPC, NO
accountability at the PPC and last but certainly not least ... NO value at
the PPC. I will take my $35 bucks and fill the cat up twice, or ... renew my
C5 Registry dues (their National event only cost me and a guest $65 and
included a reception and a T-shirt and the hotel wasn't a rip off either).

By the way ... typical PPC fashion ... no fore warning of the voiding of
passwords to the member's only section ... keep it up and you'll be back to
