We've all experienced the positive feedback and compliments of onlookers regarding our Prowlers, so I was really unprepared for what happened ......
Yesterday morning I took my Prowler to a well known local car show, sponsored by a Toronto Corvette club, whose on line flyer advertised "Corvettes, classic cars, hot rods welcome".
It was a nice day, and when I arrived one of the club members greeted me and showed me where to park .... but as I was parking ........
Suddenly a elderly woman (who I had never met or seen before) rushed up to car, obviously upset, and began waving her arms and screaming "this is a Corvette show for Ckorvettes, you shouldn't be here, get out".
At this point, another club member/organizer immediately came over to the car and asked me to "please remove the car, as it was upsetting other people".
All this and I had not even got out of the car yet.
So a bit pi$$ed off, I moved the car to the edge of the car show area, where the Corvette club had no jurisdiction, and walked back into the show to socialize with other owners.
Bottom line, when I talked to other attendees, they became angry that I was asked to leave, demanding that organizers register me for the show, and insisting that I park beside them....which I did.
I would not have believed that such extreme automotive jealousy existed had I had not experienced it myself.
Just a really stupid example of how the Prowler design proudly stands out among other cars.

Prowlers make corvettes disappear.

They were in survival mode.

I would have replied with an apology.

"I'm sorry that you are offended but this jealousy simply must stop."

I have witnessed Corvette owners at Corvette functions who would not speak to or acknowledge others simply because they didn't have the "latest" version of the marque.

It is amusing and entertaining to observe these individuals strutting around and feeling all "High and Mighty".

I owned and belonged to an MG Car Club, while during that time I had two Corvettes. When at an MG affair, owners showed no interest in my Corvette and it never offended me as I understood the event; however, if a car show is open to all makes, there should be no discrimination as to what you enter.

There are both good and despicable Corvette owners for sure.

What I really dislike is the false opinion that their cars are so much better than others ....... easily disputed by meager market share and steady decline in recent sales.

...C7 Corvette sales are nearly triple that of the C6 Corvette, 2014 Corvette sales were triple the total 5 year production run of Prowlers

...better car, I fully agree the Corvette is a better car, it is a world class sports car and does things the Prowler could never do, but the Prowler wasn't designed to compete with the Corvette and never did...at the time, pricing was very close

...if you have never owned a late model Corvette, they are very fast, handle very well, plenty of room to haul crap and get over 30 mpg...plus they are a good looking car

...rumors abound there have been despicable Prowler owners too

...all in all, cars are cars and people are people...think how boring life would be if we all liked and drove the same thing, nothing to argue about, nothing to be proud of

I've owned many Corvettes and could see the Corvette clubs point of view...if...it was an event just for Corvettes. The Corvette car show and auction held at pigeon forge Tn each year had something like that happen when the Cobra guys showed up in force. I think 5 of them came together. The Corvette show met with them and said they didn't mind them coming but they would have to park together where ever they could find a spot in the giant parking area.I thought it was reasonable. A couple of the Cobra guys owned both Corvettes and Cobras. It's better to get along when you can. The Corvette guys said they didn't like kit cars joining in,and I can see that point of view also. No need to be a jerk about any of it. Get along, life's short.

Yup ... pretty much sums it up! Like I tell both daughters ... there is good and bad in everything: people, vacations, and even car clubs. Heck, we got ole Rogy don't we!

Larry,

A C5 like yours is the only C5 I would ever consider owning since it looks sort of like a '53.

I haven't cared for anything since the C4 until the C7 arrived but I have not yet fully formed an opinion on it just yet, all I know is I don't immediately dislike it like I did the C5 & C6 versions.

I recently went to an all corvette car show. So before going I decided to take my Prowler and park on the curb of the show and piss everyone Corvette owner off.

As I was making my way down the street, I saw all the Corvette owners turn their heads my way.

I did this, because they would not let me join an all hot rod Corvette day 2 weeks ego.

All the kids were taking pictures with my car. Then on my phone I was showing all the kids how a Prowler won a corvette on a race they have on youtube.

There are lots of car people that "don't get it" and that's okay with us!!! There were more Corvettes built in one year than the five year build life for Prowler. Prowler's draw more attention....as experienced in Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon!!! Also at a rest stop in which folks ran right past by brother-in-laws's leased Corvette to see my Prowler!! lol! Should have seen the look on his face! It was great (he didn't like the Prowler).

Jealousy, it's human nature. I am having more fun with the Prowler than all the other toys combined I have had in my lifetime. And yes, I like making people jealous.

WOW!! That is really a bittersweet story. I can only imagine that they REALLY FELT that you were going to steal their thunder - AND YOU WOULD HAVE!!
But you handled it like a true gentleman.

With all of the "outside love" I've been getting with my Prowler lately, I'm kinda surprised that there's STILL a little hatred out there.

But once they get into groups, MANY car guys can get VERY snobbish or "CLIQUEISH".
I've seen MANY a Mopar guy act pretty snobbish. I've been to shows where the "old guard" (60s/70s Mopar owners) REFUSE to associate or even ACKNOWLEDGE the newer Chargers or Challengers at the show.

Corvette owners can be a SPECIAL BREED TOO. Their "old guard" is into numbers matching, date codes, options, production numbers and things like that.
The newer guys are into "modifying" and colors...and SPEED.

Personally, most Vette guys have always given me a "thumbs up".

But THERE ARE ALWAYS A FEW KNUCKLEHEADS OUT THERE, SO JUST STEER CLEAR OF THEM!!
