People buy things as an investment and put them in storage just like many many others then become disappointed when they lose value.

Just imagine you bought a brand new 1969 Camaro for $3500.00 with the intention of it being an investment.
You stored it for years in a climate controlled environment at a cost of $25.00 a month, and insurance cost you an average of $10.00 a month.

Add the costs of $3,500.00 for the car, $12,000.00 for storage, and $4,800.00 for insurance.
You now have a conservative investment of $20,300.00 in the car 40 years later and that does not include any maintenance of any kind.

In today's market $20,000.00 would be a fair market value for the car in "as new" condition given the economy and number of cars left.

Now imagine that eight out of ten people that bought the car had the same idea you did and also stored the car like you did.
There would now be 80% of the cars made back then still around and in pristine condition instead of less than 20% which is probably how many still exist today.

Would the car now be worth the 20K price, or would it be more like 5K? This would have been a poor investment huh.

I am not taking into account adjustments for inflation or the rarity of specific options the car may have had. Were the steps taken to preserve the car worth the effort from an investment perspective? My guess would be NO.

All that you would have accomplished would have been to preserve the car for someone else to enjoy. Don't let that happen. Drive it, enjoy it, don't worry about it.

I bought my Prowler two years ago with under 14,000 miles and it now has just over 26,000 miles on it. I am the third owner and have had more fun driving it that either of the two prior owners who both lost a few bucks when they sold it.

I bought the car to drive and enjoy and have enjoyed meeting other people out there that also drive and enjoy their cars. These people are worth every penny of the investment....what a bonus

When the time comes to sell the car (if ever) and I only get ten cents on the dollar, I will still be happy. JMO

Specialty car prices are soft. We've had three bad economic years. It's winter with big piles of snow in many places around the country. Gas is headed to $4 a gallon.

If you feel bad about your vehicle investment, take a look at the drop in prices paid for high end cars going through the auctions. Many have lost multiples of the full price of our cars in the last two years.

Padroo - one of the greatest attributes of the Prowler is the people you meet!! It's been almost 10 years since I bought my Prowler on ebay and now I spend vacations with up to 200 people or more I never would of met if I had bought another Corvette or any other car. I hope you can attend an event.

The Nursing Home National event in September is in your home state - The Upper Penninsula event in June is a less than day drive for you (24 hours drive time for us). Get behind the wheel of your Prowler and have some fun!

But give the little Prowler some time!!! It took awhile for ALL of the musclecars to gain some steam. In '85, you could get a perfect Superbird here in Chicago for $5000. In '87, a guy offered me a Hemi Challenger for $2000. In '93, I was offered a pristine '69 Camaro for $1200.
Even in today's everchanging climate, the Prowler has held its own and it has shown tremendous stability in its pricing.
And with so many Prowlers being damaged and falling by the wayside, the number of cars is steadily dwindling.

And "RPL" is right. When I bought my car, the dealership offered me a trailer to go with it for $3000 more and I turned it down!!! In hindsight, I could have kicked myself!!!
