Drove my Prowler to downtown Washington, DC yesterday for an early appointment. I had to park on the street since the parking garage I usually use was closed for maintenance work. When I walked back to my Prowler around 10:30 am there were five people standing around my Kat taking turns getting their picture taken the Kat. And there were several other people standing on the sidewalk across the street watching the people get their pictures taken with my car. Pretty amazing that a 9 year old car can still draw that kind of attention... |

Bob, Yes it is amazing that the cars still command attention. I expect they probably always will. The thing that amazes me the most is that you would actually drive your Kat into the Ghetto. I do all I can to stay out of that town under any and all circumstances. For years I went there for one reason or another and the area got worse with each visit. If I never step foot in that town again, it will be to soon. I do wish for you that all your travels into D.C. are uneventful and safe ones. Yes indeed: nothing like drawing a crowd. Must've had my Kat's picture taken something like fifty times at a car show in August. |

Bob, it certainly didn't hurt that your car is one of the most tastefully done, modified Prowlers. You have done mods but nothing to distract from its pure beauty. That said, most any Prowler is still quite photogenic. |

Glad you were not parked on 14th street. Could have lost your car! The onlookers were not "hookers" were they?? LOL |

TO "alrtg": I remember your using the "broken" English dialect in a recent post and your comments here about "driving your Kat into the Ghetto" and I get the TRUE GIST of your thoughts and comments and I see where your head is REALLY AT. Anyone who has visited the Conner Avenue Plant has traveled through "the ghetto" and I think we ALL made it out of there alive with our cars unscathed!! Personally I've driven my Kat THROUGH MANY GHETTOS and have received nothing but catcalls, thumbs ups, love and big appreciation. Surprisingly it was only when my Kat was parked in a mid/upperclass white area that my Kat (and trailer) was severely damaged and almost destroyed. Bad things can happen to your car (or yourself) by ANYBODY AND ANYWHERE. |

I was just trying to poke fun at Bob and did not intend on sounding like I was mad at the world there. I do avoid Washington DC every chance I get though. It's an OK place to visit but I would not work there. |

Also just making fun. I used to drive my Corvette and park it right on Independence Avenue twice each week without ever having a problem; but stayed off that street duing the '68 riots. |

When I parked my Prowler in Washington, DC the other day I was at George Washington University hospital for a medical test. It's a nice area of town with some great restaurants. The reason I drove it that day was because it was Saturday morning and I knew the traffic volume would be low, AND I had to get the Prowler thru the annual Virginia state inspection on the way home. My office is around 14th & Pennsylvania. I don't drive my Prowler into DC very much because of the heavy bumper to bumper traffic. The roads used to be pretty awful, but they've made improvements. There's a lot to do in downtown DC and there are some great places to eat. But for me it's Washington Capitals hockey games at the Verizon Center. Tuesday night they're gonna beat up on Red Wings! |
