Two reason for this post, (1) Right now we have 4 individuals wanting a hardtop and we need 6 to get the discount so just wondering if anyone else is interested. We can move this over to the Group Purchases and discuss the details if we have any further interest. (2) I just visited with Nani at Metalcrafters to get some of the details and she said they preferred to ship the hardtops out "unpainted" as she has had trouble matching some of the colors especially blue. She said if we have them painted that we should send our gas cap cover...Just wondering out of the last group if anyone had trouble with the paint matching once they got their top delivered. Also, what kind of "delivery time" should we expect once the order is placed.

My yellow hardtop & grill were a perfect match, but I did have problems with the engine side covers.

My Red Hardtop matched perfect. No problems here I did have to adjust the pins a little to fit properly.

The paint matched perfect on my Orange hardtop and grill. I did not send in the gas filler door for paint match.

I don't have a problem with receiving an unpainted one. My son-in-law will be painting our extra set of bumpers to match our '97, so why not do the hardtop at the same time?

Should we chose to buy one unpainted, what will the "as shipped" cost be to 48060?

In reading other post, the shipping crate is 60 x 50 x 18. Weight is about 150 lbs. One person had one shipped by Yellow Freight to Nova Scotia for $163.00. Another one had one shipped by DHL for $138.00. Don't know exactly what your cost will be, but you are free to use your own carrier.

Mulholland hardtop match is OK, but not perfect.

TGF engine panels were completely off, returned them, off again, after that got them unpainted and had a local paint shop do it.
Now the color match is good!

I have three hardtops. The one for my 99 Black was done by Metalcrafters. As far as I can tell it matches. The Candy hardtop was done by a local painter and matches (they also did my bumpers and side panels). The CAL KID Prowler was originally a silver (gasp!) car and repainted black so everything matches.

Another owner here in MI has had problems with Metalcrafters matching paints for various parts they ordered to the point that the owner and Metalcrafters gave up.

In all fairness, without the car to match the paint, it's difficult.

My black hardtop matches no problem. The candy red my Dad just purchased looks very close, but the flake is smaller so it is not perfect. He did send his gas cap to Metalcrafters for the match.

I think it is a lot less noticable if the hardtops do not match perfectly compared to a side panels. The side panels are viewed directly against the same plane, whereas the hardtop is not right up against a flat surface.
