I was at a car show this weekend and saw a complete set of Prowler chromies for sale, but they all where peeling baddly. I didnt even ask about them... but later that night I started thinking if they were cheap enough it might not be bad to have an extra set. Any idea what would be a fair price for these?
Also does anyone know what the back spacing and bolt spacing is on the stock rims?
Thanks!

Good question - I wonder if they are worth re-chroming and what that cost would be. Has anyone done that - re-chromed their rims and if so, how much did it cost?

That would be the biggest factor on deciding on buying a "spare" set of rims.

5 lug 4 1/2 " bolt patern. I believe the back spacing on the rears is 5 1/2". You can do a search because this has been answered before but I can't remember anything about spacing on fronts.

Larry Mayes had his rims chrome plated. Perhaps he or someone else will about that. I have seen front rims with peeling and/or scratches going for $150 to $250

Personally before I would spend any money on wheels that are already peeling I would buy some Bunik Argon wheels, I know that's not the cheap way to go but why invest in bad wheels? JMO

Do you mean these Argon wheels from Budnik? Everyone has different tastes, but personally, I like the fact that #1, we cannot see our lug nuts and #2, our wheels are only found on Prowlers! If I was going to spend the big buckaroo's on a set of wheels, I'd spend a little more and have something one off made.

I found the backspacing for anyone that needs to know..

Fronts are 5.5"
Rears are 6.25"

if the peeling is only on the rear of the wheel, they could be painted black or to match the car, (value not a lot in my opinion)

The company that plated mine stated they would do painted wheels but really didn't want to rechrome a set

You can easily have a chrome shop strip the chrome off, have a good detail polishing shop do a 100 point inside and out polishing and THEN send them into a good chromer.

That's what I'm talking about Todd - but cost wise, would it be worth having them re-chromed. I would prefer to keep the original styling!

I paid 4 years ago $185 each rear, $135 each front & $50 to prep the rear surface of the wheel for each wheel, add the stripping of the chrome off & hope they do not damage the aluminum. Then any shipping and that should give you an idea is it worth it

other than the quality of the chrome on mine over factory there is one other thing different about my wheels. I didn't notice it, but Gary C did. and yes it was something the chromer done.

I used the same company Larry used, it was about 800.00 total even with the inside polished and show chroming done.
